About the Author
Matthew Ray (just “Matt,” thank you) was born in Anderson, Indiana in 1979, the wisest, most attractive, and only son of Phil and Cathy Ray. He eventually was forced to share the house with a younger sister, Gina, eight years later. He later got revenge on this intrusion by methodically shaping his sister into a nerd, while simultaneously inflicting a multitude of games, Monty Python films, and episodes of the Tom Green Show upon her. Another eight years passed and he started a small (otherwise known as “solo”) web development company in high school. Matt was destined to attend an “Ivy League” college, so upon graduating high school, he immediately applied to and was accepted into Ivy Tech State College. He has since practiced the dark arts of web, client-server, and mobile development for several companies in Indiana. He currently resides in Pendleton, Indiana with his soon-to-be wife (fingers crossed) Ashley and cuddles with his 9-year old daughter as often as possible.

My take is that the Table of Contents for this book generated a lot of promises but the book was woefully short on substance. If you, like me, need a book to actually show you how to code a PhoneGap app, and maybe develop an actual app as an example, then this is not that book.
That said, this is not a book about PhoneGap development itself--it really is just "getting started". I still have (pretty much) no idea what to PUT in the files I learned how to generate, find in the file structure, and debug. At $6 for the kindle version, I'm pretty happy with what I got, but be sure this book is what you're looking for before you purchase.
