Are you planning a trip to Gettysburg?
The Gettysburg Expedition Guide is the ideal tour package for the entire family. It contains three components: a computer CD-ROM, a 58-page illustrated guidebook and a self-guided audio tour (CD). Start the adventure at home on your computer. The computer CD-ROM has everything you need to prepare for your trip: a history movie, battle animations, travel information, a quiz game and much more. Then take the guidebook and audio tour with you to the battlefield and embark on the self-guided tour. Narrated by one of the most popular licensed battlefield guides in all of Gettysburg, Wayne Motts, the tour will take you to the essential locations and explain the incredible history of Gettysburg.

I've been to Gettysburg before but refused to buy or rent an audio CD because their prices are all so inflated. Heck, it already costs about $13 per person at the Visitors Center for the museum and film entry (touring around the park is free). I've been content with the paper map that I could get for free. Recently I saw this Gettysburg Expedition Guide on Amazon. I bought it used (if you do that be careful that you buy one WITH CDs. I can't believe folks try to sell the guide without CDs, but they do). Whether new or used, it's worth the cost. This way I can pre-plan what I want to see and do before I get to Gettysburg. The mini-movie is great because it gives me background information and a visulization of how each days battles played out. It's nice to be familiar with the scenario before going to Gettysburg since I have only a couple days to spend on site (hotels are expensive). The trivia information is fun, too. The kids will really enjoy it.
One other tip for a great time in Gettysburg, watch the Ken Burns Civil War series. If you're limited on time, skip to the episode on Gettysburg. It'll make the trip more rewarding with the background information he interjects into his series.
