Originally introduced in the 1960s, the Eternal 900 rapidly became the most popular of Getzen's professional trumpets. During 40 years of production, subtle design changes altered the instrument's personality. Responding to requests from trumpeters, Getzen has returned to the original specifications and reintroduces it as the 900 Eternal Classic. Exceptionally free blowing with excellent intonation, the Classic will serve working musicians and serious amateurs in a variety of musical contexts. During my search I tried a number of different brands of horn in this price range including Bach and Yamaha models, both of which tended to be more expensive. I found the Getzen easy to blow with relatively effortless access to tones ranging below low C and above high C. I am not a professional player. I occasionally perform in public but I play primarily for my own personal enjoyment. My repertoire ranges from standards to classical so I wanted a horn that would provide for flexibility of style. I bought the Getzen to replace my 50 year old Olds Special which was the only trumpet I had ever owned but was now well past it's prime. I have no regrets in having purchased this Getzen horn.
A versatile trumpet with amazing laser-like projection, it will blend-in nicely with a band or section, and it will scream and sizzle if jazz and lead playing is your gig. And Getzen valves are recognized as the best in the business, with a fast action and short throw. If you are considering purchasing this trumpet for a high school or college level trumpet player, this horn will allow them to go wherever their talent will take them. And Getzen is a 2 generation family business that provides excellent customer service.
Though it's great, I do have some slight problems with it. The valves tend to stick much more often than my other horns, and I honestly have no idea why it's doing it. However, this is a minor issue I have with it. It's still a nearly perfect horn.
All in all, if you want to upgrade to a new horn, this is the perfect one to do it with.
