Dr. Tamara Pizzoli does a wonderful job of telling a story about a curious little boy who learns a lesson in responsibility and honor.
So many times children will take the easy way out of a difficult situation. However, in this case, the story line takes a different approach showing that children do have morals and values. An important lesson is learned for not only children, but adults. It takes a village to make any child feel forgiveness and love, no matter what he/she has done. The illustrations, by Phil Howell, are absolutely beautiful. Colors are woven throughout The Ghanaian Goldilocks making the pages come alive with the story line. This book is a must read!!!!

Kofi is a curious and mischievous little boy who lives in a small village in Ghana. He spends so much time outdoors that his hair is bleached from the sun; hence, the nickname Goldilocks. Kofi tries very hard, but also manages to find trouble. One day, while on an errand to get tomatoes, Kofi finds himself in a strange house. From that point on, readers may find he story has parallels to the Goldilocks tale, but there are many twists and turns in plot and outcome.

Beautiful illustrations allow the multicultural images to come alive. I would suggest that the text be made a lot bigger. I was unable to enlarge it. Young children as well as adult readers may find it difficult to read. Yet, the tale is charming and effective/ This Goldilocks knows how to act responsibly. Recommended especially for readers in the three to six year range.

I loved the story, but the book is more like a pamphlet than a book. The cover is laminated plastic. The pages appear to be regular printer paper. The pages are so poor in quality that as I was gently turning the pages I could see creases forming on the corners of the pages after the first read through! I expected much higher quality ... especially for the price. My son is 2 1/2 and I want to be able to enjoy this book for a long time. I can't even allow him to touch it which is a bummer during storytime.

From the first page to the last, the Ghanaian Goldilocks mesmerized me and kept me smiling. With it's lovely language and beautiful imagery, the book is a great read for kids of all ages (I don't have kids and loved it). The author has a way with words that draws you in and makes you feel like you are eating the fufu and trying on the clothes. The illustrations are spot on, so vivid and beautiful. As someone who's spent time in Ghana, the geographical and culture references are spot on and take me back to one of the best vacations of my life. Thanks so much for turning this beautiful and creative idea into reality. I know children (and parents) around the world will really enjoy. Perhaps there will be a series of Kofi's adventures a la Curious George style (hint hint no pressure). Great job and looking forward to reading more from this author.

Cute but a little above my grandchild's age. She enjoyed reading it once, but hasn't wanted to read it again. It does have a very good lesson for chidren and hopefully she will enjoy it more as she matures.

What an incredibly clever way to infuse Ghanaian culture into a classic story. Using such a familiar tale to explore unfamiliar themes and objects( ie. playing Pombo) from the Ghanaian lifestyles helps children easily learn about other cultures such as Ghana. I love the thoughtful twist an added lesson about making the decisions and the right choices as well as really educating children about using other peoples things without asking which I feel is lacking in the original tale. I have never been to Ghana but to me the illustrations seem to capture it's essence so beautifully that I want to go! I was anxious to see each and every page! What a beautiful heartfelt story with lots of education on manors and culture infused!

I am amazed by the transformation of Goldilock's personality in The Ghanaian Goldilocks. Dr. Pizzoli does a marvelous job with changing Goldilocks character into a story with culture flavor.
Phil Howell, the artist, represented the characters with so much visual effects. It is pass time for children of color to see their faces in print and to hear the voice of people from around the world who's hands and eyes resemble theirs. There are many value clarification lessons express by Dr. Pizzoli in this story and they are all on point. This book is a must read for early childhood kids and for adults who are amused by a twist in an old story tell. Can't wait to see what is coming off the press next by Dr, Tamara Pizzoli. Thanks for recognizing a need for books like these for children of color and moving forward with a brilliant idea.

The warm colors of the book's beautiful illustrations, mirrored the warmth of the its characters, will gravitate you into the story's loving community. Dr. Pizzoli's talent is one to be reckoned with and I can't wait to see what else she has in store. A must read I wholeheartedly endorse! Keep on Dr. Pizzoli, keep on!
