Rhys teaches paranormal studies (and history) at UCLA and is also a ghost hunter. So what that he has never actually seen a ghost before - there must be a first time some time! He stays at his friend's house to investigate local haunting. Friend's hot looking nephew Sam, a cop, thinks it's a huge waste of time. Soon things get dangerous and to stay alive Rhys has to solve a murder!

One thing I always appreciate when I read Josh Lanyon's books is how much fun I have when I read them. I was sitting here, drinking my evening glass of wine, and when I got to the second page I found myself smiling. And this is what Josh always does to me! It feels really good when the corners of your mouth start climbing upwards. Doesn't it?
This story has perfectly balanced romance, excitement and humor. The storytelling is, as usual, flawless. His stories for me are so contagious his books should be quarantined!

Rhys Davies is on a mission to study paranormal activity in a creepy old house on the California coast. Invited to stay at a friend's home while he investigates the house next door, the last thing Rhys expects is to run into police officer Sam Devlin, his friend's nephew, who also is staying there. The attraction between Rhys - who is a more vulnerable character - and Sam - who is rougher-round-the-edges - simmers until sparks fly. You cannot help but cheer them on. The mystery is filled with twists and turns and it will keep you hooked. Ghost of a Chance is masterfully written mystery by Josh Lanyon. It's a feel-good, spooky treasure to savor.

The hero in this story is sympathetic and engaging as only Josh Lanyon can produce. His love interest/second hero is a big alpha sweetie-pie. Their reluctant journey to love is fun, funny and well worth your time.

I really liked this quick read. It had elements of the paranormal and macabre that added to the romance. My favorite thing from this book was Sam. I loved how he was so gruff and shadowed at first, had grown up surrounded by bad role models for love, and was not physically handsome, but was so sweet and caring and romantic after he and Rhys broke the ice. He didn't give up on wanting one person to love and grow old with. I think he was a beautiful character that I really understood, and he became more beautiful every page further I read. Also it was well planned how Oliver and Thad's relationship mirrored the ghost's past relationship. All the details of this story meshed together, and I would love to read more of these characters because they are wonderful. I am very happy with the resolution of the story, and immensely enjoyed the entire thing. The plot was simple but well done, and was interesting from the action-packed beginning to the happy ending. I definitely recommend this book, full marks for another grand read from my favorite author.

No-one expects to be thrown to the floor and frisked when first entering a house for a weekend stay. However this is how Rhys ( ghost hunter) and Sam (cop) meet. The relationship they then have is quirky, amusing and sensual. All this while trying to determine whether a local property really is haunted. Josh Lanyon manages to give the reader two charismatic but quite different characters intertwined with a great mystery story. I look forward to reading every one of his novels and this one does not disappoint.

After crying on the shoulder of a gallery owner about his ruined love life, Professor Rhys Davies receives an invitation to study the ghostly Berkeley Manor. Oliver, the owner, has a home on the grounds of the reputed haunted mansion. An opportunity for Rhys to add a chapter to his up coming book on haunting along the California coast. What Rhys does not realize is he will be sharing the house with Oliver's nephew, cop Sam Devlin. A mountain of a man, and not a very nice one, if their first meeting is any indication.

This is a short story, that has lots of things that go bump in the night. A relationship that blossoms under trying circumstances. A fun, well crafted, creepy read, just what you need on a dark night.

Another great story by Josh Lanyon and another superb addition to my Halloween library. Rhys and Sam may seem like complete opposites on the surface but underneath they mesh perfectly. A Ghost of a Chance offers up a little bit of everything: mystery, paranormal, romance, and of course two equally stubborn men butting heads.

Another perfect Josh Lanyon story! I love the way Lanyon packs so much into so few words. Normally, I am not a fan of short stories or novellas and yet this author keeps me coming back for more because each one feels almost like a full length book and certainly has the impact of a longer book. A Ghost of a Chance had some mystery, conflict, romance and humor AND managed to have heart-hurting moments as well. Loved this one. Love this author.
