The story takes place in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. And Corolla, Carova, and Duck are the towns that you will feel you visited while reading this book. The Ocean is close and the horses run free.
Blake Sayer has been in love with Carson Cole since they were 7 years old. With her twin brother Joel Sayer making up this dynamic trio. A wonderful childhood spent in this paradise with the beach in your backyard where the wild horses come to play. The North Carolina Wild Horse Association keeping the horses protected. These horses have been there for centuries.
Graduation and College were going to separate these two lovers, brother and friend. But unthinkable tragedy strikes before that separation ever could happen. In her pain and grief, Blake says the most awful things to the one person she needed the most. Ending in her isolation, and with no one, but her black lab Rhett.
Ten lonely years go past, before Carson is called back home to take leadership job from his father of the North Carolina Wild Horse Association that was founded by his Great-Grandfather. And just maybe have a second chance to mend two broken hearts, and find a “ever after” with his soul mate. Fate broke them apart and might bring them back together.

I love a good second chance at love story, I love when two people can come back together after a significant amount of time apart and have those same feelings come rushing back.
Carson love animals and I mean HELLO...that makes him super hot right of the get go. He also has a strong bond and love for Blake. They met when they were very young. Blake is a beautiful girl who has
felt such heartache that she can not seem to let go of the past.
Find out if these two lovers, once reunited can piece back what they once lost.
And reading the blurb I was intrigued. I wanted to know what happened. I couldn't wait to find out what the title meant!
I have to say, I went into this book with some rather high expectations, which was unfortunate. Ghost in His Eyes starts out fascinating, engaging—enthralling me with its prose and mystery.
I fell in love with Blake in the beginning. She was so broken, shackled by her past, unable to move on. Stuck in place. Granted is was one beautiful place (one I have to visit one day), but still, the past had its hooks in her and wouldn't let go. But she reciprocated, she held on to her anger, guilt, blame, and pain for all she was worth.
She couldn’t see her way past the pain and grief. Not until her high school sweetheart came back into her life.
Carson was just as damaged by their shared past, but unlike Blake, he moved on. He let go and healed from tragedy. However, he never could get over Blake. Even ten years later, he felt her pull. But can two broken souls move past their pain and move on? Or are the jagged edges of souls too painful to heal?
I enjoyed Ghost in His Eyes immensely, the book has a unique backdrop and a solid foundation. I liked reading this book and will definitely recommend it for anyone who's in need of a short second chance love story.
Unfortunately, for me it had a little too many issues to fully enjoy this book. It had a few plot holes and some things didn’t make sense in the character development. The buildup of the story is great, it kept me intrigued, unfortunately the ending left me disappointed after such a strong start.
The writing in this book however, is strong. I loved the almost poetic prose Carrie Aarons has written this book in. I enjoyed the picture she’s woven of the beautiful Outer Banks, waking a desire to see the island for myself.
Regardless of this, I enjoyed reading this story. But since I’m always trying to be honest, I cannot give this story more than 3.5 Stars. I still liked this story and will read move of Carrie Aarons’ book.

After reading the blurb I loved the sound of this, but when I read it I really couldn't connect with the characters the way I'd hoped.
Blake Sayer has had so much heartache, so much so it made her somewhat of a recluse. So when on her monthly trip to the shops Carson Cole makes it known that he's back after ten years.
Ten years ago there was the heartbreaking loss that effected both Blake and Carson. They were each others first loves, but the heartbreak tore them apart. Now that Carson is back will he and Blake be able to get past the hurt and pain of their past and forge a future together.
What I imagined would have been an angst filled second chance was more sweet, but it was a much enjoyable read.
