These 5 episodes remain as some of the best in the history of the show. This is also worth buying if you are like me and already own all the Ghost Hunters Box Sets on DVD. The first 4 episodes listed above are from the first 2 seasons when the DVDs were made by Big Vision Entertainment. The quality of those DVDs was somewhat disappointing and with this DVD the sound and picture is flawless for these classic episodes. Great buy for Ghost Hunters fans.
Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson are the bosses here, that is, until Wilson left in 2012. Wilson has been gone a while now, having dramatically wasted two whole episodes with some manner of emotional meltdown causing him to quit the show entirely. This is a show with a checkered past: its early seasons are terrible showcases of Jason Hawes' total lack of charisma/likeability plus the team's utter incompetence. It is also a circus of dummies who are mostly gone because they were too dumb to do anything.
Yet somehow, with the newest team of Jason, the weirdly phobic alleged ex-cop Steve Gonsalves, Dave Tango, Amy Bruni, Adam Berry, one fellow who I can only remember as Brit, and cute-as-a-button Michelle Tate, the ratings seem to have steadied for them. Admittedly, this has developed into the slickest and most experienced cast I've seen in any ghost-hunting show. I was deeply impressed by their intentions, such as the episode involving a 1970s fire at what had been a gay bar. There, team investigator Adam Berry proudly mentions he's gay.
I see "Ghost Hunters" as a group that may have started genuinely investigating (not knowing what they were doing, surprise, surprise)--but they have sold out to the demands of ratings and spooky not-so-special effects. I just like watching my favorite team members and laughing at their shenanigans.Read more ›
