About the Author

Nancy Jill Thames was born to write mysteries. From her early days as the neighborhood storyteller to the Amazon Author Watch Bestseller List, she's always had a vivid imagination and loves to solve problems - perfect for plotting whodunits.  In 2010, she published her first mystery "Murder in Half Moon Bay," introducing the well-loved protagonist Jillian Bradley and clue-sniffing  Yorkie "Teddy."  When not plotting Jillian's next perilous adventure, Nancy Jill travels between Texas, California, and Georgia finding new ways to spoil her grandchildren, playing classical favorites on her baby grand, or having afternoon tea with friends.  She lives with her husband in Texas and is a member of ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) CenTex Chapter.

Great story that kept me engaged until the end. This author has successfully created credible characters, and the plot tied up nicely with the happy ending. I keep wanting to read more stories about Jillian and her sleuth-dog, Teddy. Nicely done! Wendy Viscuglia Danville, Ca.

I liked the characters, and the plot was tight. What I didn't like was all the useless, extraneous words. For example, Jillian & Vincent are at dinner and decide to leave. There is a sentence about calling the waiter and paying the bill. Unnecessary. It would be tighter if she just moved on to the scene in the car.
And as a Christian, I understand keeping the faith. However, endless quoting of Scripture, and repeating the salvation message is distracting and not helpful. A little goes a long way. Even I skimmed those parts. The last salvation message was just irritating,
And the dastardly ' shows up again. The author or her editor doesn't know a plural is different from possessive. Hanson's dog versus The Hansons. as in two of them.

Can a murder mystery be lovely and comforting? By this author it can. This book gives fresh meaning to the term "cozy" mystery! The setting of the southwest was vividly described, along with good meals at a posh resort, well-rounded characters, and a very original mystery to boot. The comfort part comes in with the ease in which the author has the main character share her faith in God and heartfelt prayers. Also, zero profanity and other such offensive things.
Filoli House was mentioned also which I love. Looking forward to the next book. Quite a bargain for the kindle price of $2.99.

Okay. This author improves. As she goes. Wait until you read her last one. Even better.
I love Jillian and Teddy. I am an avid reader, and this series gets more interesting as it goes. Of course, there were editing problems on Kindle as with most of the books I have ordered as e books . However, that being said, one must ignore them and read on. (I love a variety of authors and even my beloved Jane Austen uses too many unnecessary words and details)
Tis series is for the reader who wants to cuddle by the fire with a hot cup oF coffee and be transported into Jillian's world for an hour or so. I love animals but not so much reading about them. Teddy is a character!!!!! Yes, there is a Christian theme to these books. Don't we need more of those???? I am reminded of Jessica Fletcher and Miss Marple when I read one of my favorites. Enough said...if only Ms Thames could write faster.

In my opinion, in "The Ghost Orchid Murder"...the second novel in this series...the main character and super sleuth Jillian Bradley has a kindred spirit. As I was reading this captivating novel, my mind kept recalling Angela Lansbury in her role as Jessica Fletcher in the once popular television show, Murder She Wrote. Both of these female characters play a similar role...writers, widows, and willful women determined to solve murder mysteries.

Talented Author Nancy Jill Thames demonstrates her creative ability in this Christian mystery novel. Along with a suspenseful "whodunit" murder, she manages to incorporate a touch of faith, a hint of romance, as well as the key ingredients it takes to write an enjoyable mystery novel. The many characters/suspects in the story add to the intensity of solving the murder mystery in an expedient and effective manner. Jillian Bradley, along with her lovable dog Teddy, manage to assist in solving this crime in no time flat. If you enjoy a good, clean mystery murder, then this is the novel for you.

I received this book as a Free Kindle download.

Well Miss Thames did it again! Another great mystery, from the swamps of Florida, with rare orchids, to Phoenix with cacti galore. Jillian and little Teddy worked their magic to help solve the murder of Rene. Loved this book also, and highly recommend it to all lovers of a well written mystery.

Jillian Bradley has a great imagination and would make an awesome author if these books were edited, tightened and written in more of a conversational manner

However, I am struggling with this one. It honestly needs a very tight edit. There is so many unnecessary bits of information. I feel frustrated reading this. "Detective Noble paid with his credit card and we left the booth. We stopped by and greeted Tori and Richard. They seemed a little surprised to see us together but kept to small talk and wished us luck in the investigation. I finally got back to my room. It was nearly 2 pm. Teddy had to smell me all over again to see where I'd been. He wagged his tail furiously." - "How was lunch?" Cecilia acted interested.

However the constant going on about GOD and Christianity. This book needs to be in a different category. I don't like being preached to and I don't choose books that are heavily emphasised on Christianity - if I wanted that I would go to church. I felt the author is using the vehicle of books to preach and that is not okay.

And so the list goes on. I am sorry but this just does not cut it with me any longer. If people are going to put themselves before the public as an author then spend time on the craft and that includes tight editing. When I write a book I sometimes take up to 12 months to write and edit - the editing process can be over four months alone.

This book story line was interesting but that was it - no more books from this author until she hones her craft and gets a damned good editor.

AND to the troll who has been reporting me to Amazon and posting nonsense comments on my reviews ... don't even bother. This is honest feedback. I do not have any books in this genre.
