Sanctuary does what is does best, protect the hurting, I can't quite say innocent because lets face it, the cases, protectors, and protectees can fall into a bit of a grey area when it comes to the legal side of the table. The chemistry between the boys is off the charts, whether it's mud-slinging, easy going banter, or just existing within the same four walls, you can just feel the heat emanating off your e-reader. If you are sitting down to read the print version you better be prepared for spontaneous combustion because Ghost is full-on foreplay.
I won't touch on the mystery aspect of Ghost which is a continuation of the Vargas case that began the Chicago arc in Accidental Hero because I don't do spoilers but I will say it kept me intrigued from beginning to end. As I type this I am patiently waiting, or not so patiently to be honest, for the next and possibly final installment By the Numbers. If you haven't read Sanctuary, Inc yet I highly recommend getting your fingers walking, prepare tons of your caffeine beverage of choice, and diving in because you won't surface till you finished.
I thought it was a mostly well written book. There are a few sentences that needed a second edit catch, such as one very distinctive sentence in chapter 8. It read as follows: " I'm going to find Daniel," said and slipped off the bed. One can assume it was Hannah talking since Yvonne was rolling her eyes in the very next sentence. I'm not a writer and I caught this the second I read the sentence. As I mentioned a second edit pass was needed. Also Brandon becomes Brendon later in the book. Not sure how that was missed since he was mentioned as Brandon multiple times for several chapters and then he's Brendon multiple times for the last 2-3 chapters, it wasn't a one time thing. Lastly I didn't feel like Elliott and Cole had romantic chemistry. Maybe because they were on the go so much or because there's not much romance going on period but I didn't feel it. It is a good continuation of the Sanctuary story and the Vargas saga. It had some good mystery, a little tension going. Will definitely buy and read book 10. Would definitely recommend it to RJ's fans.
Sorry my review isn't better written as I'm not a writer only a reader.
This story flowed so beautifully. Had a bit of everything I love when reading a book by R.j. She is able make me see, feel and understand what the main characters are going through. I am REALLY looking forward to the next book!
A MUST read.
What a tangled web these Sanctuary men, and their happenstance eventual lovers, live. Elliot the organized, white-bread type (foreground on the cover) makes capturing murder suspect Cole (behind him) almost a life goal. Cole, on the other hand, has a ton of secrets wrapped up in a wildly false, but totally logical, identity along with his sister and father, also introduced in the previous book.
This one takes violent after violent turn--sometimes in background narrative, sometimes present time. Along the way the glib and somewhat mainstream Elliot and the elusive, gruff but always eager Cole smash and clash together in bed, and go on from there to move this narrative along to the next installment while somewhat obliquely introducing the two MCs in that one. Yeah, sure, you know where that is going.
