Nobody really knew who Smoky Walker was, or what he looked like.

But they did know that he was bound to appear wherever trouble started. He would be there like a phantom, working just out of sight. There'd be a roar of guns and then the stranger would gallop away.

Now Smoky was hunting a man as mysterious as himself- a man who stole herds of cattle and then disappeared into thin air. The unfortunate few who'd seen him described him as the ghost of man long dead.

Dogs lost his scent and experienced trackers lost the trail. The few who resisted the 'ghost rustler' ended up dead. Everyone was leaving the county while they were still living and breathing.

Smoky Walker was the only man who stood a chance to stop him- but can even he track a ghost through thin air?

A carpenter by trade and a historian by inclination, Andrew Pankratz combines the best of the pulp western tradition with hard facts. He takes the stock western story of the strong, silent cowboy, the pretty girl, and the gunfight on the dusty street, and mixes that with political intrigue, double identities, and complex criminal minds. The result is Roy Rogers crossed with Indiana Jones and Sherlock Holmes.

Andrew is a native of North Carolina. He balances writing with historical and tactical research, as well as outdoor sports like hunting and fishing. Dusty libraries and old land titles fascinate him just as much as the carpenter’s plane.

He is the author of The Sons of Thunder, A Lone Outsider and The Ghost of Shanaghy Jones. He also republished and wrote a historical introduction to Baroness Orczy’s famous novel, The Laughing Cavalier.

Another will written free classic western adventure thriller short story by Andrew Pankratz about a ghost 👻 returning after ten years. But is it a ghost 👻 rustling cattle and killing people? The good guys win out in the end. I would recommend this novella to readers looking for a quick western read. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa as I do because of eye damage and health issues. Stay safe. 2022 😮👒
