I had the privilege of meeting John Kachuba at the Tri- County Para-fest in Fostoria, OH back in April of this year, where he was a guest speaker and also had a table set up to sell some of his books. What a great guy! He was so nice! My friend and I also sat in to his presentation where he talked about some of his books, but also talked about some of his experiences investigating the paranormal. (Yes. He is a paranormal investigator) And it was listening to his presentation where I heard about this book for the first time. He had me sold when he said it was available through amazon for the kindle, which I own, for a cheap price, but he had me intrigued when he said, " These stories are not your typical 'scary' stories- with gore and all that; but rather what we as paranormal investigators experience or have experienced. It is very grounded. Not outlandish in any way, but rather as something that us in this field can relate to, as well as genre fans would like. And hey, .. it's cheap! " But regardless of the price, this is the best genre book of its kind I have bought in a LONG time. It is well written. It is fantastic!!! And as a paranormal investigator myself,(facebook.com/GhostOpsOhio), it is like sitting and hearing someone's first hand account of an experience. It is great!! I couldn't stop reading it when I bought it and finished it that night. I've read it multiple times since. Can't wait to get more of his books!

I really enjoyed these four ghost stories, all very different in tone and style. Heaven Scent and and Home is Where the Heart Is are both haunting and sad. Recalling Miriam has gentle humor. A Modern Fable has a very sinister quality. It's hard to pick which one I like best as they are all very well-written and have surprising endings. Heaven Scent, I would say, has everything I want in a good ghost story - creepy, scary, but ultimately has emotional resonance and a twist I didn't see coming.

I adore this author. I have quite a few of his books in hard copy and on Kindle. Be aware that this book is just ghost stories he is not writing about haunted locations as he does in the rest of his books. I read each story and was like okay I want to know more John you can't do this to me :-). I highly recommend getting this book if you are interested in reading ghost stories. This will make a great addition to your library to read around a fire one dark and stormy night.

Four stories of the supernatural that are very well written, touching, humorous and a little quirky. John Kachuba is a very talented writer, in my estimation. I enjoyed these stories immensely and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for good entertainment. Not your run-of-the-mill stories, which makes them a nice change of pace over your traditional ghost story. I will definitely look for more by this author.

Dislike the fact that the book was like a cliff note! Way too short!

Ghost Stories is a wonderful collection of J. Kachuba's work. I enjoyed all the stories! One story literally had me in tears; some gave me goosebumps; all had me anxiously waiting to see what would happen next; and another had me wishing and hoping for a particular ending. (hmmm can't tell you if it ended how I wanted or not, LOL). You will not want to put this book down, until you've read all four stories. THEN, you'll be looking for MORE of his books. Enjoy!

The writing was good, stories not so good. It took me forever to finish this small book. I couldn't bring myself to read it anymore, but. I did manage to finish it. I'm not trying to tell anyone not to read it, find out for yourself, you might like it.

I have to give this book a four star instead of a five. I thoroughly enjoyed the chapters and read it in one night. But there is what lies the problem, I think it was too short.....I mean for the dollar I was expecting alittle more. I guess one can argue it is quality over quanity...I get it, but it still could have been longer.
I will read his books again, but will check the page count next time,
Wishing it was longer in Hawaii

This was a pretty average book with the first story taking up most of the book. I don't think it was scary at all and certainly wouldn't be able to read it all again....a bit boring to be honest!!

The author's writing is clear enough but I was expecting and hoping for more traditional ghost stories.
There are 4 tales of fiction which can be read in a couple of hours.
The first story is about a cleaner obsessed with the death of his brother who encounters a psychic who helps 2 spirits to pass.
The second story presents a haunting from the perspective of the spirit. I really liked this one!
The third story is a funny account of what appears to be a "haunting fail" where a ghost is sent from wherever ghosts hail from and she can't find her subject to haunt. This was cute!
The last story concerns some road widening, moving a cemetery and the legend of a witch buried therein.

I like real ghost stories that aren't made up but real, this book is worth reading.
