Ghost Story would likely have been a four star read, but for the fact that it took a note from the author at the end of the story for me to fully understand what the nature of the threat was...
Here's hoping Brackett returns to the genre and dabbles a little more as there is considerable promise here.
3 Broken Pieces of Paranormal Investigating Equipment for Ghost Story.
I understand the author doesn't usually venture into the horror genre but after reading this little gem I do hope he considers writing more horror in future.

An abandoned and supposedly haunted hunting lodge plus a team of paranormal investigators. Will this job be a bust or turn out to be something else?
Eeeeeeeeeeee!! This is creepy and gory. I’ve stated before that horror isn’t one of my favorite genres, but this isn’t just horror. It’s a horror sundae drizzled with suspense and topped with paranormal. Scrunched down in my chair, I had one hand holding my Kindle and the other clenching a fistful of blanket. I’m glad I read this in the day and not at night. *shudders* I kept thinking: Where’s Sam and Dean when you need them?!
The only complaint I have is the team of investigators had been doing this for two years yet their actions and disbelief made them appear like novices..
