I have only been reading comics for a couple of years. I've been a Ghostbusters fan since '84. Love the first two movies and the video game. So it's great that this comic picks up right after that. The only complaint is that it ended on a "To Be Continued"! Just like a comic book! I plan to get the second one at some point to continue the story. You can really hear the guys voices when you read through it.

First of all, I've been a Ghostbusters fan since i was three, so I may be a bit biased. That being said, I can honestly say that I was blown away by the caliber of this series. It combines the history of the movies, the cartoons, the game, and even comics that came before. Throughout each issue if you look carefully you can spot tiny references to many episodes of the Real Ghostbusters. A great first arc dealing with the first "big bad" of the series, Gozer. I never really found the previous ghostbusters comics to really add anything new to the series. Fans of Ghostbusters will be truly happy with this series.
My only disappointment is that there are only 4 issues collected in this volume. But all in all, I have no complaints for this book. It was a lot of fun to pick out all the tiny references that I remember seeing during my childhood. I've already ordered Volume 2 of this series and have nothing but great expectations for this series.

This is a correct view on continuing a beloved franchise. Picks up after the video game, which is canon, and you can hear the actors voices in your head saying these lines.

Good start to a promising comic franchise. The artwork is absolutely gorgeous and I loved the way each ghost took its cues from both the cartoon and movies. I loved all the story tie ins and absolutely adored all the subtle Easter eggs from the cartoon series thrown in. You really have to look to spot a few of them.

Ghostbusters is easily one of the most successful, recognizable, and beloved franchises to emerge from the 1980's. To date, it's spawned a sequel, three cartoon series, toys, Halloween costumes, at least three video games, and I'm pretty certain there was a breakfast cereal out there somewhere. For those of us who grew up dreaming of advanced degrees in parapsychology and psychology, the franchise sacred ground, which is exactly why, in the wrong hands, a Ghostbusters graphic novel could have gone horribly wrong.
Fortunately, it didn't. To cite another 80's icon, the authors pulled an Indiana Jones, lovingly excavating every disparate shard of the franchise, dusting it off, cataloging it, and piecing it together in a mosaic canon whose whole was far greater than the sum of its parts. Remember every line of the movie? So do they. Remember that horrible cartoon with the gorilla or the terrible NES game? Both are referenced. This is what makes the graphics novels work: they love their subject matter as much as those of us growing up with it do.

As a Ghostbusters fan boy i was very excited by getting this book.
This is a very worthy entry into the franchise. set sometime after the events of 'Ghostbusters: the video game'. It's a great story with really nice art work.

Really good artwork and string writing. And it's Ghostbusters, what's not to like.

A true love letter to Ghostbusters fans!
Funny story that amusingly makes small or obvious references to previous entries in the franchise (from 'The Real Ghostbusters' to the most recent video game) and contains great dialogue which matches the standard of the films. The artwork may not be the most interesting, in my view, but the character designs and colouring nicely captures the spirit and tone of the story.
Bought vol. 2 as soon as I finished it :D
