While this volume doesn't have the strongest ghostbusting storyline, it almost doesn't matter, because the main point seems to be the Ghostbusters hanging out, discussing non-work issues, and digging into Egon's mind. And it's awesome! Peter also comes out as a winner in this volume as his personality is on full display. Also, there were three nods to "The Real Ghostbusters": 1.An illustration of the snobby heiress who wanted her uncle's ghost out of her recently inherited mansion, along with her nerdy fiance`; 2. the "chicken man" (look it up) in Ray's store buying a pile of books; and 3.Ray's remark to Peter that Egon might have rushed the crowd because he thought he saw the Boogeyman. And we've got Kylie Griffin from "Extreme Ghostbusters" as a character (mental cartwheels)! There's also Egon dealing with strangely enthusiastic women and his personal journey in dealing with the reappearance of someone thought long gone, along with a peek at his "interesting" thought processes. Best of all, the awkward confrontation between Egon and Janine's new boyfriend, Roger. Even if the cover art sucks, the rest of this volume is worth the expense.

Haunted theme park time! Ever have this nightmare? Do giant monkeys scare you? How about clowns? Narcissistic possessing soul-suckers? Than this is the book for you!
I have to say that the IDW ongoing Ghostbusters comic is one of the best series I have ever read. It incorporates everything Ghostbusters, the movies, the cartoons, the video game, it pays homage to them all, winks to the fans, and still somehow maintains a life all it's own. This is the second installment containing comics #5-#8. Also contains a small seven page side story about John Horace Tobin of the spirit guide fame. The back of the book contains conceptual artwork and the variant comic book covers. But I'm not going to spoil anymore of it for you. It's a quick read, but you get a chuckle a page, so well worth it. If your a Ghostbuster fan, and your only thinking about it, don't. Just buy the thing. You'll be glad you did.

Recently I became a little overly obsessed with all things Ghostbusters and started reading the graphic novels. I loved the first one and thought I would continue on this journey with my four favorite paranormal experts. I wasn't disappointed! First off, the artwork is great. It's cartoony without being Sunday Morning paper cartoony... more like, caricatures. Secondly, I really liked the story. The first GB graphic novel was definitely geared toward Ray. This one is more about Venkman and that cocky attitude that makes him such a fan favorite. I'm interested to see if the rest of the novels each explore a certain GB and his traits/insecurities/etc. All in all, I was very pleased with this novel. It felt very "at home" within the GB universe.

PERFECT ADDITION TO THE FRANCHISE!

The team behind this new series of GB comics set VERY high standards in volume 1 and continue to live up to them here. There is no need to make a 3rd film, THIS is the best effort to continue the franchise since the Videogame. Having read the IDW Omnibus of recent GB stories and not been too impressed by all of them I wasn't too sure what to expect from this. I needn't have worried. The best parts of the Omnibus stories are exactly what has been used here. The art brilliantly melds the two films with the cartoon/comics styles. Each character has a clear and effective look all with excellent colour work. The story balances the silly/comic moments with scary moments very well and also begins to develop arcs that could well just run and run (a bit like how The Walking Dead is a story without end I suppose), great! The plot also melds the films with cartoons (both Real and Extreme GB, just check out the developing gear that crops up) and references the Videogame as well all in a very subtle and cool way. I also really liked the background hide-and-seek GB franchise and general eighties references that the artist used in volume 1 and are continued here in volume 2. The gallery of other artists interpretations, sketch gallery and bust-report notes just makes it even better. I can't wait to read volumes 3 and 4 now! The franchise is in perfectly safe hands with this development, writing, art and colour team. Please don't ever mess with that IDW!

NOTE: After checking around a few websites it's clear that this IDW series consider the two films and recent computer game as canon and the cartoon versions as a separate world. So they will be referencing the cartoons and maybe borrowing ideas and characters from those other versions but fully integrating them all probably isn't all that likely or even possible. Still I do hope the other Extreme GB team members get a moment as Kylie has been used in this IDW version.

Ghostbusting!

I have always enjoyed the Ghostbusters ever since I first watched the films. Now I am really pleased that I have started getting the Graphic novels.
This follows nicely on from volume 1. It is great to see the writers putting plenty of effort in and giving each of the characters the spot light in each story. Well written indeed. It is many little stories within one big gigantic paranormal story. If you like the Ghostbusters than I cannot see why you wouldn't like any of the novels. Enjoyable read for any age.

As a Ghostbusters fan i loved this graphic novel because it expands on the Ghostbusting universe by giving a more in depth look at the four and all problems that they or the city of New York encounters!
