"I've been slimed." That's how I feel after listening to the remastered Original Soundtrack Album of Ghostbusters. It does have good parts, no doubt, but how many times can you sit through various versions of Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters." Too many times, I was asked, "Who you gonna call... ?" It's a shame because this album has some great tunes.

The remastered has all of the songs that appear on the original plus the two additional songs: "Disco Inferno" and "Ghostbusters" 12-inch single remix.

Personal favorites include "Savin' The Day by Alessi," "Hot Night" by Laura Branigan, and "Cleanin' Up the Town" by The Bus Boys. What happened to them? Let's not forget the classic from the boys who were the kings of '80s love songs, "I Can Wait Forever" by Air Supply. Funny, I don't remember it being in the movie. However, I've since learned the song was played through the headphones of the guy moving the Ghostbusters' equipment out of the college. No wonder I didn't remember.

Also added is "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps. Again, I didn't remember this one in the movie especially since it's the wrong decade. Turns out it was played at Louis' party. The last bonus track is yet another version of "Ghostbusters."

Take out the 15 minutes of Ghostbusters songs, and the 11 minutes of "Disco Inferno," all of which comes to about half of the album in terms of time. And it's as good as the original album. The extras don't take it up a notch.

List of songs on the album:

1. "Ghostbusters" - Ray Parker Jr.

2. "Cleanin' Up The Town" - The Bus Boys

3. "Savin' The Day" - Alessi

4. "In The Name Of Love" - The Thompson Twins

5. "I Can Wait Forever" - Air Supply

6.

I bought this album just for nostalgia. I was around 11 years old when this movie came out and have great memories about it. Of course the soundtrack was a great part of it. I owned this in cassette back in the day (and I think I still have it somewhere). The "Ghostbusters" main theme was probably one of the most popular movie themes in the 80s. But there are also some underrated themes in there: The Thompson Twins' "In the name of love", Laura Branigan's "Hot night", Mick Smiley's "Magic", and so on. The orchestral themes by Elmer Benrstein are also great, specially "Dana's theme", although they feel a little out of place among the "pop" themes. The new themes (that were not included in the original release): "Disco inferno", and the "Ghostbusters" remix don't really add much to the quality, but I just ignore them... specially the ghostbusters remix. I mean, how many times do you need the same song in an album?
If you were a kid in the 80s and liked this soundtrack, go get it from Amazon (good price). It's not only a great soundtrack from those days. It's also a great compilation of 80s nostalgia.

I recently decided to purchase the "Ghostbusters" Original Soundtrack Album as a Digital Download, ..and I am glad that I did.

I actually still own an old version of this album (one on cassette tape from 1984 with 10 of the songs) which I bought years ago. So I already knew just how much I really enjoy (the majority of) the tracks found on this soundtrack. (I had listened to most of the songs on my old cassette a lot!)

There are two tracks found on this mp3 album, which were not present on my old cassette tape:

Track 11. "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps (10:57) ..and
Track 12. "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr. (6:04) (another longer version of the Ghostbusters song)

I had actually already purchased the 6:04 minute version of "Ghostbusters" (back in August 2014) from Amazon while it was "on sale".

Since I loved the "Ghostbusters" movie, and I really enjoyed listening to the album all those years ago, I figured buying the album was a good idea!

I got this as part of my son's 5th birthday. He loves ghost busters for who knows what reason. I was slightly disappointed by the song list but he loves it so there we go. When I say he loves it he really does. For me... I know there where other songs in the movies that could have stepped into this mix. He's happy I'm happy.

A good collection of 80s songs and some of the score. Of course there is the classic Ray Parker Jr. song, plus an instrumental version of it which I like. My favorites are Magic, Savin' the Day, and Hot Night. Several of the songs remind you of scenes in the movie. Like hearing the Thompson Twins song, and thinking of the Ghostbusters eating Chinese food. Yep. The album takes you back to 1984, too.

This version comes with two bonus songs-Disco Inferno, which I've never really liked, and the extended remix of the Ghostbusters theme. But as others have said, they don't add a lot to the soundtrack. The remix isn't so great. I usually like extended versions/remixes from the 80s, but this is one case where it doesn't really add anything to the original song. I thought I would like it and bought it even though I have the regular CD, but I think if you have the original, this is probably worth skipping.
