When Scarlet is hired to do the flowers for a society wedding at the newly renovated Lilac B & B, the downside of the job was dealing with the bridezilla Kimberly, who changed her mind on what she wanted more often than most people changed clothes. Snobbish and clearly not wanting to deal with Scarlet, Kimberly was a constant thorn in her side. Kimberly's wedding planner, Sonya was much easier to deal with and sympathetic about Kimberly's caustic personality.
Meanwhile Scar's hired help at the shop was an accident waiting to happen, and you didn't have to wait very long for Lizzie to break something or cause an accident of some sort. However since the ghosts don't help, Scar needs someone around the shop to keep the business running smoothly. And since no one can know that she sees and talks to ghosts, Scarlet has to be tight lipped in the shop to make sure Lizzie or customers don't hear her talking to the various ghosts.
One person who knows about this special ability is Lucas Green. Lucas and Scarlet met in the first book when he was in town working on a television program about renovating the Lilac B & B. Lucas has time off in the summer from taping the TV show, so he comes to see Scarlet and kindle the romance they have started.
A glorious summer is interrupted by missing ghosts, new ghosts with demands, a murder, and another new ghost. Lucas may not be able to see or hear the ghosts like Scar can, but he joins forces with her to try and solve the various problems they are having.
This is a fun book about a different aspect of life in Beechwood Harbor from Danielle Garrett's other series about Holly and the paranormals she lives with. There is overlap of characters and businesses, but essentially you don't have to have read that series to appreciate or understand this one. You will, however, enjoy this second book about Scarlet much more if you have already read the first book which is called The Ghost Hunter Next Door: A Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery.
Ms Garrett's mixture of paranormal and normal is a seamless joining of both worlds with most people none the wiser. I enjoy her variety of ghosts and their concerns that they share with Scarlet. The personalities of the ghosts are used to poke fun at times, and also to show that even ghosts can have problems.
This delightful book should be read and enjoyed by all ages without need to censor. It is entertainment and mystery combined into a fun to read installment in a good series.
Well written, never really thought about what ghosts ' feel ' .. now have a different opinion. I love the stories about Beachwood Harbor. Please, keep them coming. Recommend this book to all Cozy readers.
