About the Author

Martha Cecilia Rivera is a Colombian writer and poet, born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1959. She obtained a B.S. in Psychology from the National University of Colombia, and a M.S. in Social Communication from the Pontifical Javeriana University, also in Bogotá. She lives in Chicago, U.S.A., where she writes about literature for a number of journals and magazines. Her literary work has been published in various anthologies in the U.S., Colombia and Spain. Her poems have been selected for some of the most important Spanish poetry events in Chicago (Poesía en Abril, Palabra Pura, Guild Literary Complex) and have also obtained international awards (La Fuerza de la Palabra, Argentina 2013). Her narrative includes the novel Ghosts for Long Nights and a collection of short stories, Opera of a Seeker, which is currently under publication.
