I was fortunate to have nabbed this excellent box set for free. You can not help to fall in love ,with the Gia Santella character and each book is a complete stand alone and not written in a serial format which is very nice. Starts out with Gia as a rich heiress diving fast cars, boozing, drugging and having care free one night stands, to help herself to over come the pain of losing her parents in a fire; until one day she receives a letter informing her that her parents were murdered. Without giving every thing away a must read, very entaining and Gia looks out for those who are unable to look out for them selves. Job well done will follow further books on Gia.
If you have something that needs to be done, don't begin to read these books. You'll NEVER be able to stop reading. On the other hand, if you can curl up and let everything else slide, you'll have a great time. Wonderful stories, real people. I loved the whole journey.
This is a book full of action, with interesting people and awesome locations. Gia is certainly a person you would like to know and definitely not one you want to cross. She may not have the training or instincts to be the super spy but she makes up for it with grit and determination. I don't recommend this for anyone underage because of the response she has to her problems ie: drinking, drugs and one night stands. She needs to find a way to deal with her problems without the self destructive behavior. I really like her and want her to make it.
So frustrating to read! Gia Santella is the ultimate spoiled brat with tons of money, but little appreciation for it and trhows money around like water. She is also totally impulsive with little self control and constantly does really stupid things while telling herself she shouldn't. Many innocent people around her die, usually as a result of her self-centered actions while she comes out smelling like a rose, inherting even MORE money and villas, etc. while continuing to smoke and drink and sleep around after committing to clean up her act. If I had a nickel for every time she said something like "Every fiber of my being was telling me not to . . . . . " and she does it anyway, I could afford a GOOD book. She NEVER learns. Her most common statement is "I should have . . . . ". She supposedly studies some form of Karate for years, but always gets beaten up by the bad guys. ALWAYS! Fortunately there are not a lot of stupid technical errors in the book, except for her duffel bag with the "X-Ray proof compartment" in it to carry her weapons C'Mon - that compartment itself would be a giant red flag to airport security. DUH! There is also a lot of senseless F-word swearing, further showing Gia's low class.
It should be two stars but I'll give it three just for the complexity and the fact that these books helped be kill a lot of time. There is better - don't waste your time here.
Filled with fast paced action and danger, follow along with the incredibly intrepid Gia goes about life dealing with one horrible tragedy after another, each one more devastating than the last. One wonders how she copes. Well, with copious amounts of alcohol and throwaway á it's how.
Fiery, feisty, sometimes clueless, sexy Gia is on the loose, falling into trouble with the wrong critters. With a black family history and no family support, she relies on friends and intriguing guys she meets along the way, to help and to hunt down the secrets in murder mysteries. She has trouble staying sober, preferring to hide inside a bottle, or illicit drugs. But her genuine curiosity and 'kindness', leads her in adventures to save others. An odd twist like a bad cop, with demons to exorcise, Gia wobbles between light and dark, fumbling into heroic actions, that bite her in the end. She has a lot to be grateful for and much to atone. A good selection of fast-paced mystery novels! Liked them.
Made it through one novel and half through another before realizing life was too short to be reading such trash. A leftist, liberal snowflake with the IQ of a toad is the lead character and spouts useless diatribes from a self defense manual. Although action is very good, the plots and socials ideas spewed constantly leaves a lot to be desired. The author has had to have led a limited life with narrow-minded friends to continually think her views of what should be accepted is shared by any but a few malcontents. Don’t waste your time with this authors novels unless you also live in a glass bowl and want everyone to see your faults.
