A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF BIG DOGS BUT LIKE GEORGE, BIG DOGS ARE VERY LOVABLE. OUR BIG DOG WAS A LABRADOR MIX NAMED MILO AND WEIGHED ABOUT 125 #. HE AND GEORGE WOULD HAVE LIKED EACH OTHER! MILO DIED IN MAY 2008; WE'D HAD HIM SINCE JANUARY 1994. HE WAS THE BEST DOG--LOVED US, LOVED KIDS. UNLIKE GEORGE WHO HATES WATER, MILO WOULD STAND IN HIS WATER BUCKET EVERY CHANCE HE GOT. HE HAD HIS OWN KIDDIE POOL AND WOULD SNAP AT THE FISH PAINTED ON THE BOTTOM. WE HAD TO WATCH HIM NEAR OUR POND BECAUSE HE WOULD JUMP IN AND SWIM AROUND FOR QUITE AWHILE. HE LOVED TO CHASE OUR DUCKS BUT GRATEFULLY HE NEVER GOT NEAR ONE. THEY WERE SAFE WITH HIM THERE. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, HE USED TO CHASE COYOTES AWAY FROM THE POND EVEN.
IF YOU LOVE DOGS, YOU WILL LOVE THE STORY OF GIANT GEORGE BY DAVE NASSAR.
Update: Giant George actually died recently, just shy of his 8th birthday. Those of us who have followed him on his website miss him almost as much as those who were blessed to share his life. Visit his web site. Read the book. These folks have done good stuff with and now in memory of GG.
that's how this book is written. George isn't just a dog, he's part of a very special and amazing family who despite some difficult strains of owning quite a large dog, they love and cherish him as part of their pack.
What a sweet and wonderful book this is about such an amazing dog.
