Top Customer Reviews
First, the good stuff. This chair is a very beautiful chair that also function exceptionally well. All of the parts feel high quality. When i sit on this chair, it makes me feel premium :D and comfortable. It also looks amazing with my glass and black anodized steel desk. It does everything it says on the tin, goes up and down, leans back and rocks back, and the casters for the wheels are high quality. some chairs come with chrome looking wheels, but just think about this, how many times will you be looking at the wheels while sitting on the chair? also, they are generic black, so i am completely fine with them. And i havent even gotten to my favorite part of the chair, the two included pillows. first the head support pillow. instead of being around the back of the whole chair, the pillow is attached to the chair in too big cutouts near the top of the chair. this feature is great for people who like taking naps on their chair. ive found that the pillows like to slip off from the top when resting your head on them, but this one doesnt. Now the lumbar support pillow. OH GOD ITS AMAZING. i have serious back issues, the curvature in my back is extreme, even unhealthy. im still about 6', but i digress. this lumbar pillow is beautiful for me. i finally have found a chair that will fit my terrible gamer back. also, since im rather tall, the ability to move the pillow is AMAZING. if you do have a proper back and are considering this chair, the lumbar pillow is also very soft. my mother actually has a perfect back. she sits straight on lazyboy chairs. she sat on this chair and did mention that it is a little proddy, but that she would happily use it as it is "very soft and malleable" in her words. also, if you dont like it, its easily removable.
all you have heard is good stuff. so why the four stars? well, this is the bad stuff. when my chair shipped, sadly, it came without both of the armrests. i was worried but also angry that this could even happen! i then proceeded to procrastinate for a while then sent giantex an angry email. the kindly and cooly responded that i should simply send them images of the missing piece and they would happily send me what i was missing. they also said sorry, which i appreciate. and they didnt robotically include "for the inconvenience". I sent them images of the missing parts, and in less than two hours from when i sent the email, they had replied that they would be sending two new armrests and refunding a small but still noticeable $3. in less that 36 hours, a company that makes budget chairs (although high quality) responded and solved an issue i had. This service must be commended, my local walmart is worse for customer support. This wasnt the only issue, but the main one. the chair to build is easily a two men or women (i didnt forget our women users :D) building process, but even then, some of the parts from the box are rather hard to fix. it took me almost 40 minutes to make. also, the instructions to make the chair are admittedly shit, but the process of building is very VERY striaghtforward, and i actually just used dxracers downloadable instructions. they seem to work well.
In conclusion, the only reason this thing doesnt have 5 stars with some small warnings is an honest mistake (or shipping mistake) for this chair. its a nice, premium feeling high quality chair that just has slight issues in assembly. of course, missing armrests isnt something to forget about, but i seem to be the only one. i am almost 100% sure that it was simply a mistake, and i am not blaming the company of cheat, but somehow of being human. I enjoy every other part of the chair, and the one armrest i did get feels very nice. AND THE PRICE!!! this chair and the company with it are a huge competitor in the chair market, especially from dxracer. i cant spend too much on a chair (school) and this works nicely. I am overall pleased with the chair. i recommend this to anyone. dxracer does exist, but they are expensive and this is so nice. mine had a mistake, but mistakes happen, and the way giantex responded i am very pleased with. quick, useful, and efficient with no "im sorry" faff.
now of course, this is a chair, and for anyone willing to take a SLIGHT risk on this company, they should buy. BUT I MUST SAY. if you want 100% gaurantee of perfection, i have to say dxracer wont forget an armrest. But then again, amazon has backed this chair with their own gaurantee, and even if there is an issue, giantex is good with responding and amazon gives you a guarantee that if you are displeased, you can return it no problem. i took the risk, and although i did lose, giantex is sending me the armrest and i did save 200 dollars that i used to buy a beautiful desk.
IM DONE, IM SORRY. actually, one more thing, im 6', 206lbs (yes i know im fat) a man, and have very VERY wide shoulders. and this chair is comfy for me. my neighbor (who i called to try it) is less than 5'4", weighs 70lbs, and is a petite (very nice) women. she just ordered a chair for herself. she cant use the head pillow, but she is used to this and just rests her head on the chair back. she can also use the lumbar pillow, and she does love it. I ALSO have a neighbor that is 6'5", 180lbs, a man, and has insanely wide shoulders. he fits this chair just fine, and his only problem is that he had to permanently hold the head pillow at its top setting, but it still works for him well. All three of use can touch the floor with our feet, and can use the lean back feature comfortably.
I STRONGLY SUGGEST IF YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE A MINOR RISK, GOOD LUCK.
Normally with stuff like this, i would say you get what you pay for, but in this case (not including the small armrest issue) i thing you get 3x what you pay for.
I will admit I bought this chair mostly for looks. I drive a yellow sports car with racing seats IRL, and so this chair matches it. There's only a handful of racing styled computer chairs that come in yellow, and this one seemed like the best for this price range. That was my main motivation besides wanting a comfortable chair.
That being said, I am happy with the chair, I read through the reviews of this chair before buying it, and the other reviews are accurate.
Good things: Chair is overall good looking and good build quality. Nice wheels that roll pretty well on carpet. The high back is plenty high for me (5'9"). the padding is adequate, although I wouldn't mind a little more seat cushion or armrest cushion, but the chair is fine how it is.
I first thought the pillows were kind of gimmicky, but they're actually my favorite part of the chair. The back/lumbar support pillow straps to the harness cutouts and its adjustable up and down which is AWESOME. I do a lot of manual labor and have regular back pains, and moving the pillow depending on how my back feels is GREAT. My roommate has a $200 more conventional office chair, and overall his chair is probably more comfortable than this one, but this chair feels great on my back when my back is sore. Unexpected plus.
The neck pillow feels good and takes strain off the neck, but its not really adjustable so it likely won't line up with the crick of your neck. I'm 5'9" and it sits a little low. If you're 5'6"-5'8" it probably lines up great. I usually just leave the pillow loose and set it on my neck. Also helps with my back pain. Pleasantly surprised how much these 2 little cushions help.
As other reviewers noted, the chair does squeak a lot. I'm hoping it gets better over time, or I might try lubricating the joints, but its very squeaky for an office chair. Not a big deal for me, but could be a factor for others.
Overall, I'm happy with this chair. If you're taller than 6' or shorter than 5'4" this chair probably won't be that comfortable for you. If you wear pants with a waist measurement of 40 inches or more you also will probably find this chair too small.
Pros: 1.) It has decent adjustability.
2.) It's big enough for me to sit cross-legged if I so choose.
3.) The removeable lumbar pillow and neck pillow are really nice. I have personally removed the lumbar pillow, as it tends to get in the way, but it also has full up and down adjustability.
Cons: 1.) Not sure if this is because of my uneven floor, or if the chair leans to the left, but I feel like I lean to the left in this chair.
2.) The arm rests, although adjustable up and down, wobble a little too much for my liking when it's fully extended. I'm just going to assume that's fine, and I'm nit picking.
3.) Again, not sure if this is my uneven floor, but I feel like I'm slanted forwards a bit, which makes it feel slightly uncomfortable when I sit on my butt with my feet on the floor. It's something to mention, at least.
