I highly recommend this book for both young and old baseball fans! Well, maybe not Dodger fans....Ahhh, the rivalry lives on.
I had a great experience ordering this product and was received in a timely manner.
Mr. Fost did a fantastic job in presenting the material that allowed for a quick read all the while allowing a non-sporting history buff like myself to learn more about the greatest moments that made Giants baseball awesome!
I specifically liked how the book breaks down history acording to position. Being a huge Will Clark fan, it was nice to see that "The Thrill" got some space devoted to his brillent Giant's career.
The best part of the book (hands down) is the photos! I especially liked seeing some photos from the past which I had not seen before.
So in a nutshell - I learned some new things, I relived some old memories, and I now have a great sovereign that I plan on passing down to my kids someday!
If you're a Giants fan or know a Giants fan, this is the book to buy whether for yourself or as a gift!
Championship teams? Got 'em.
Great players? Got 'em. (By position, even.)
The origin of the "Say Hey Kid" nickname? It's in there.
Willie McCovey dressed in a horrific orange jersey? Check.
The abundance of both detail and nuance in the text is a complement to the crazy array of classic photos that generously fill each page. From Jim O'Rourke in 1888 to Matt Cain 120 years later, the reproductions in this book are stunning. If I had a coffee table, it would be gracing it right now. As it is, it'll be on my office desk for the foreseeable future, because I can think of no better way to distract myself from actual work than poring through this thing for hours on end.
(Still, Mr. Fost, would it have killed you to have devoted just a little more space to the likes of Mike Ivie and Fred Breining?)
