I never thought I'd love a double wide but this mailbox is awesome! I see what people mean about the magnetic closure feeling a little less than secure but so far it is holding up perfectly. I don't see the problem others described with the hinges on the door happening at all (and I've been watching) so maybe that has been resolved with the newer ones. After six months of research, this box is exactly what I needed and I'm so glad I decided to purchase it even with those few complaints in the reviews. I'll update if the door flies open in our next hurricane. But so far, so good!UPDATE: I purchased this almost 2 years ago (Jan 2019) and the hinges are still functioning perfectly. However, as many of the reviewers warned, the door sometimes opens by itself. This has been happening for the last few months of our very hot summer. Each day, when I put my orders in the box and then pick up our mail, I study the door. It seems to me like the metal of the door has slightly warped so that the magnet is no longer close enough to the door to maintain its hold. I have a supply of very strong magnets so I took out a stack and placed them right under the original magnet. (Photo attached.) The door now takes a bit of pressure to open and it doesn't feel like it's going to fall open on its own ever again. I took out my E6000 thinking I would need to glue the magnets onto the surface but, after placing them, that seems unnecessary ... so far. We'll see ... I'll update again with any developments.I still love this mailbox!
