Pro-Level Upgrades with Unbeatable Value

Made with select traditional tonewoods and two of Gibson's best PAF-style humbucking pickups—a ’57 Classic and a BurstBucker Pro—the 2014 Les Paul Studio effortlessly nails that legendary Les Paul tone, while push-pull coil splitting and Orange Drop tone caps make it supremely versatile, too. Further 2014 120th Anniversary additions include new larger no-slip strap buttons, black Supreme Grip Speed Knobs, a TekToid nut that cuts friction, long-life proprietary coated guitar strings, cryogenically treated fret wire for longer life and corrosion resistance, a full PLEK setup, and a 120th Anniversary logo inlay at the 12th fret.

Body and neck

The Les Paul Studio Pro is crafted in the image of the original Les Paul Standard. It’s made from a solid mahogany back with modern weight relief for enhanced resonance and a lighter strapped-on feel, with a carved Grade-AA figured maple top. Its glued-in mahogany neck features a ’60s Slim Taper profile, a rosewood fingerboard with 22 cryogenically treated frets for long life and resistance to corrosion, traditional trapezoid inlays, and a commemorative 120th Anniversary inlay at the 12th fret.

Pickups and electronics

The guitar carries a pair of Gibson’s legendary ’57 Classic and BurstBucker Pro humbucking pickups in the neck and bridge positions respectively. These pickups recall the original PAFs with genuine Alnico magnets, but are updated for the requirements of contemporary music. They’re wired through the traditional complement of independent volume and tone controls and a three-way selector switch, but updated with coil-split switching and Orange Drop tone capacitors.

Hardware

Upgraded Grover kidney-button tuners join a chrome Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece for outstanding resonance and sustain, while enlarged strap buttons (new for 2014) keep your guitar secure throughout the set. A black pickguard and pickup rings join black Supreme Grip speed knobs, which provide optimum, no-slip control.

Protective case

The Les Paul Studio Pro comes protected in a vintage-brown hardshell case that includes a truss-rod wrench and owner’s manual.

This is my second Les Paul - as expected, the quality control is great- factory setup pretty near perfect, and it plays like butter. There are 2 things I'm not a huge fan of - the volume pots with the push pull have a tall stem, so there is a larger then necessary gap under the knob and the nut shows - this is somewhat true of all 4 knobs. It would be an easy thing at the factory to tighten up that tolerance some and make it nice and flush (like my Strat). Secondly is the number of latches on the very nice Gibson hard shell case - are we afraid that latches 1 thru 4 will pop open somehow? That's a lotta latches! -
Bottom line - buy this guitar - if you want the same great Les Paul quality and playability as the Standard and Custom - for a lot less.

Fantastic guitar, from the vintage brown and pink hard-shell case, to the extra large strap knobs, 120th anniversary inlay, and the absolutely stunning looks, this guitar plays like a charm. Versatile and extremely comfortable to play, you can get so many different tones using just the push pull knobs, the three way toggle switch, and one amp. While I would not hesitate to purchase this guitar again or recommend it to others, my one complaint is of the dry fretboard and cheap sounding strings. However, this is easily fixed with some fretboard oil and new strings. This guitar now sustains a richer, more solid tone, without coming out of tune.

Excellent quality guitar with a beautiful top. The fretboard was extremely dry, make sure to oil it up before playing. The neck is fast and not as thick as the 2015 models. Grover turners are good, however, I had to put a lubricant on the nut in order for it to maintain the tuning. I'm happy with the purchase. Rock on my friends, rock on.

What can I say it's a Gibson LP. Delivered on time in great condition. It first however had trouble staying in tune, mainly the G string. May have been that the strings needed stretching or the nut needed breaking in (a little Nut Sauce too), whatever, it's fine now. Sounds great & plays exceptionally well. The teal blue candy color looks fantastic with black trim. It really is a good deal for a legendary guitar.
