About the Author

Raised in a rural area of Florida, R.W. Wells grew up knowing he was bound to be a writer. His heart reminded him anytime he lost his way. His other works are, Black Mountain Express: A Smoky Mountain Bedtime Tale (children's book series) and CUT (Psycho/Thriller that is being made into a feature film).

"A brief life with her is better than an eternity without her by my side...eternity is empty without the one you love in it." ~ Marcusio

When I heard about this book I was instantly intrigued. Reading the first chapter here at amazon had me hooked, I had to know more. This is the first book I've ever read about vampires and the vampire in this story is cultured, polite and compassionate. In other words, he is not your typical vampire. In fact he is called an "Anuket."

This type of vampire doesn't feed on human blood, instead they protect humans from other vampires. Even though Marcusio is different he is still dangerous and must fight his natural urges. Being an Anuket takes training and determination.

Marcusio is also very romantic and since he is immortal he outlives the woman he loves several times. She is reincarnated three times and each time Marcusio manages to find her again.

What I enjoyed most, besides the romance was hearing the intimate thoughts of a vampire. I think this would be compelling for anyone wanting to understand what a vampire might think about. There is also a lot of action - vampires fighting, life-and-death situations and some scenes of war. Any brief moments of violence are sharply contrasted with visions of beauty and love. I think this story would make a good movie.

I read this book and I have to be the honest person I am. This book is really good and there is nothing like it. I have read many books and this book takes you into so many twists and turns.
You will agree when you read this book and see how amazing it is written. Very creative book that will have you wondering at the end of each chapter there is Nothing like it!

I appreciate the hours of research Mr. Wells has obviously undertaken in order to understand the mind and heart of the vampire.

The vampire can approach humans as a psychopathic/sociopathic beast or be quite loving. The vampire may be protector of the human race or be it's worst nightmare. Mr. Wells has portrayed the vampire as both the former and latter, and with all of the strengths and frailties that vampires have.

Mr. Wells introduces us to the mysterious Anuket, who are inclined to protect humans, versus the likes of Lorean and her coven of murderous bloodthirsty vampires. So, yes, we have the tension of good versus evil. This dynamic, coupled with Mr. Wells' fertile imagination and adept writing ability, make for a fascinating read.

If you love vampires, you must read this book. If you don't, you are missing a gem amongst...ummm...sparkles.

I'm looking forward to the sequel, Resurrection. I wonder what evil group of vampires Marcusio will encounter next.
