Having been seemingly abandoned by her husband for the last eight months, Giavanna DeVille gives in to her despair. Stumbling into the snowy night where she thinks no one can hear her screams of frustrations, she is surprised when a man appears in the snowy darkness. Not only does he give her a shoulder to cry on, a helping hand, a gesture of sincere friendship but he also gives her a most precious gift…hope.
In Gift of Hope (Gifts of Christmas Series Book 2) Shanna Hatfield gives her readers another sweet romance which embodies the principles of hope – joy, benevolence, protection and strength, and provides a way forward even when times are bleak.
Because he is the donor of these principles, Gray, through Ms. Hatfield’s unique writing style, shows the reader his great joy when giving a simple piece of candy to Matty and Gwennie; benevolence when delivering much needed supplies to Gia without expecting anything in return; and his protection and strength by doing small chores merely because it is the right thing to do.
Strong, resilient, stubborn and fiercely independent, Gia was never one to accept charity. Gia gives in to Grady’s generosity at first mainly for her children’s sake, but soon accepts him as a friend, someone to talk with besides a three- and a five-year old. Even after tragedy strikes, she still holds him at arm’s length. It’s only after she turns to her faith does she realize she must change her prideful ways, does she accept this handsome, tender man into her heart.
Ms. Hatfield’s writing voice is wonderfully unique, making her a favorite author of sweet western romance. She incorporates faith, family and friends into all her romances. It is always a joy to revisit with characters from her other books. In Gift of Hope, she gives her characters hope that circumstances in the future will be better. It's not a wish that things will get better, but an actual belief, even when there may be no evidence that anything will change.
P.S. Grady captured my heart from page one and never let go!!!
