I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I wasn't too sure how I would like a book on Angel's and Nephilim... thanks for the warm welcome into their world Vicki!!

I found myself trudging along with Ethan, Caspia and Logan through the story, laughing when they laughed, crying when they cried and getting excited when they did. I felt that Vicki really brought the reader into the story, with strong, believable and emotional characters that the reader can really relate to. They didn't get over the top with emotion, but had just enough to come alive.

Her powerful descriptions of the surrounds really added to the whole experience. I found myself imagining the rooms of Asheroth's compound or the town centre of Whitfield with all it's sparkling personality and charm.

Thanks Vicki for a great read! Now on to book 2!

So, this was a tad new for me...haven't read many in the err..."angel paranormal genre." The writing was actually quite beautiful, for the most part. However, sometimes the descriptions were a bit long and I would catch myself skimming at some points. As for the romance aspect, I'm one that usually doesn't mind the whole "insta-love" but this one seemed...a bit strange. I did enjoy the brother/sister relationship (the closeness between the siblings definitely tugged at my heartstrings) and even her friendship with Amberlynn. In fact, I may have enjoyed that more than the romance aspect. I also, surprisingly, found the crazy (villain?) Asheroth intriguing. I do wish the ending had slightly more closure but it wasn't really any different than most first books in a series. It is a clean romance for the most part (merely alluding, nothing overly graphic)and some slight profanity (for those who like to know). Teen girls would probably thoroughly enjoy this read (I would say maybe 14/15+). As for whether I will continue this series, I'm not sure. The teaser of the next book definitely sounds promising. This will probably be one I'll keep in mind for down the road but not one I'm ready to continue at this time.

I'm not sure what to say on this one. I was disappointed, but it wasn't a bad book. The prose was sometimes quite beautiful, moving. The description was lovely. The storyline interesting.

But, the characters drove me crazy. Caspia irked me endlessly; she was a wobbling, bobbling, sniffling dunce, IMO. She was needlessly violent, scared of her shadow, and just plain annoying. Ethan was better, but maybe just because we didn't have his point-of-view, except in the prologue. I'm not sure why the fell in love. And the way they attack one another without just cause would be the kiss of death for any real life relationship. And their zero-to-sixty love affair just didn't feel real to me.

Also, the story just dragged. At 84%, I decided, that's it, I'm skipping to the end, only to find there was only about 5 more pages. Then it was a prologue for the next book. I had to double check that I was right and I'm still not completely sure. I didn't read it, just smimmed over it. I did learn that what I really wanted to know wasn't even addressed at the end.

The main problem for me is that there was this HUGE plot point around the middle of the book, where we meet a new baddie. Ethan and Cas are clueless and get into a contrived fight after (still not sure why. I think only to push the plot, not the story.) This new antagonist is not dealt with again. Just forgotten. That's why I was so surprised by the end. I didn't see it coming. And not in a good way. The end just sort of happened, wrapping up only a few things. Odd. What tension there was never got resolved.

So I don't think I'll be reading on in the series. I was too relieved to be done with book 1. I want to be sad when inI finish a book because I won't get to see those characters anymore, but happy that it all got wrapped up nicely. That didn't happen here.

Again, not a bad book necessarily, just not gripping enough to recommend it or go on from book one.

Caspia Chastain has had a rough life, her parents are both dead and her brother Logan has terminal cancer. Caspia also works full time, is the chief maid and bottle washer at home, goes to college, every moment of her day is packed! But it's funny what we can make room for when it is really important!

When Cas is doing an art assignment she draws a man she has never seen, along with the man is bloody talons, and a picture of a heart. There are other things that Cas doesn't understand, and it has been awhile since she has been given a vision of the future, and she truly hoped that they had somehow just gone away. But as most things she wishes to ignore, the vision won't be denied. Cas goes into emotional meltdown when she sees the man from the drawing in the flesh. Who is he and most importantly what does he want?

Meet Ethan, he was sent to bring Logan, Cas's brother to the light and insure the Dark didn't obtain his soul. When he bumps into Cas in a store he also feels her deep pain. Cas is being torn apart knowing her brother only has a short time to live. Ethan wasn't supposed to ever interact with Cas, but now that he has he can't let her go. He has found a love of a lifetime, now Ethan must choose to either let Cas go or become one of the Fallen.

Cas and Ethan have so much to overcome, fallen angels, and a demon are after Cas and her brother. Will they be able to find love and keep it? What is going on in Cas's cosy little town? You will love finding the answers to these questions when you download this book.
