Update 5/2015. This current Anker device (squared body) is different from the original (rounded body). And it has a different chipset supported under CentOS 6 with the r8152 driver. The device is not nearly as sturdy as the original device I reviewed, but so far it's plug and play.
Old review: This is a great, robust device. It looks similar to the Linksys 300M (which is Not USB 3 compliant), but its construction is superior, thicker shell and heavier cord. I'm using this under CentOS/Linux. It took some time to track down the ASIX AX88179 Linux Driver to make it work. Google "ASIX AX88179 Linux Driver" if you looking for it from the ASIX support site.
Update: Since I wrote this review I have an update on Linux support. Early in 2013 the ASIX drivers were submitted for inclusion in the Linux Kernel. This means that if you use a recent kernel (something like 3.10 or higher), Linux directly supports the AX88179 chipset.

[Design: I like it.]
The design is very minimalistic with 1 feet length, which I like. There are three LED lights, red LED indicates it is connected to USB 3.0 (if you connected it to a USB 2.0 port, then you won't see this red light), green for data transmit, and blue to show it's connected/recognized. It would have been better if the description was marked net to the LED, but it is written in the manual. (I know, who reads the manual these days? I had to read it just to make sure I'm not passing wrong information.)
Cable being 1 ft, it is perfect for laptops, although you can let it hang on the desktop's USB port too.

My desktop has the Anker USB 3.0 to gigabit adapter plugged in a USB 3.0 port, and acting as a host. The client computer is Thinkpad x230t (IvyBridge) with intel's gigabit ethernet.
When copying huge movie files from the host, it starts transfering at over 100 MB/s (about 95% gigabit utilization) for a while until my laptop's memory fills up, then it slows down to about 75 MB/s (about 50% of gigabit utilization). This is pretty darn fast.
I tried this test using my desktop's integrated intel gigabit port (motherboard is intel DH67CF board, SandyBridge), and I only got about 45MB/s. I couldn't believe the Anker is almost twice as fast! I checked both adapter's settings, and jumboframe was not even enabled, everything was at their default settings.
I also tried moving the device on to a USB 2.0 port now on my desktop. It still shows I'm connected at gigabit speed, but transfer speed is now capped at about 29 MB/s (25% utilization), which is the limit of USB 2.0.Read more ›
