Windforce Cooling System

The WINDFORCE 3X cooling system features 3x 80mm unique blade fans, alternate spinning fan, 5 composite copper heat pipes, heat-pipe direct touch and 3D active fan functionality, together delivering an effective heat dissipation capacity for higher performance at lower temperatures.

Alternate Spinning

The Gigabyte 'Alternate Spinning' is the solution that can solve the turbulent airflow of three fans. The biggest problem with the three fans is turbulence. Since the fans rotate in the same direction, the airflow direction is opposite between the fans, which will cause turbulent airflow and reduce heat dissipation efficiency. Gigabyte turns the middle fan in the opposite direction, so that the airflow direction between the two fans is the same, reducing the turbulence and enhancing the airflow pressure.

Unique Blade Fan

The airflow is spilt by the triangular fan edge and guided smoothly through the 3D stripe curve on the fan surface, effectively enhancing the airflow.

The 3D Active Fan provides semi-passive cooling, and the fans will remain off when the GPU is in a low load or low power game. It allows gamers to enjoy gameplay in complete silence when the system is running light or idle.

Heat Pipes Direct Touch GPU

The shape of the pure copper heat pipes maximize the direct contact area with the GPU, enhancing heat transfer. The heat pipes also cover the VRAM through a large metal plate contact to ensure proper cooling.

The composite heat-pipe combines thermal conductivity and phase transition to efficiently manage the heat transfer between two solid interfaces which increases cooling capacity.

No problems with drivers... ez transition from Nvidia (*4 month update)

Could not be happier with my purchase. Was originally a little concerned about all the comments and reviews regarding issues with drivers, but switched over from Nvidia and have had no issues. I believe the issue most consumers are having with drivers is from older versions of drivers, thus I had no earlier versions and went straight to amd drivers and was a flawless transition. I can't really comment on what's it's like if you are upgrading from an older radeon gpu... but for someone who's thinking of switching from Nvidia to AMD I highly recommend. Amazing performance, nice temps, excellent software (infact I prefer AMD's software over nvidia much more user friendly). Granted I went from a potato of a gpu (MSI 1050ti) but getting literally 125% better performance. Example - was running Battlefield V at medium settings getting 60-70 fps. Now running Battlefield V Ultra settings getting avg 130-140 fps. If you want the most bang for your buck this is the one to go with. Very satisfied consumer.

*update* - still very happy with this card for the price you pay you get really great frames without a doubt most cost effective card on the market.. if you want the 2080ti that's fine not gonna hate on them but you'll basically be paying $400.00 - $600.00 more (depending on model) for 10-15 extra frames per second in rare cases (very rare) an additional 20 frames per second. Now to some gamer enthusiasts that might be worth the extra money, but honestly hardly can tell the difference... if you don't believe me plenty of reviews and videos you can see that also prove the same point. This update is also to make people aware that yes there are issues at times with this card, but I noticed something very simple fixed all my driver issues and never realized my bios was out dated.. if you happen to be getting the kernal error report check your bios and make sure you have the latest version if not flash it, after I did that had 0 issues with the card and back to enjoying my games.

Perfect for mid-high end gaming rigs at a competitive price

This thing works like a charm, the shear performance-to-price is fantastic and easily handles Red Dead Redemption 2 at 1440p at 35-45fps. A few driver hiccups, especially in the beginning, has since been relieved but occasionally will hiccup and crash but its become less of a common annoyance and more of a rare inconvenience. The price-to-performance alone is easily enough to offset the few flaws the drivers has and that are improving. This thing blows out any nvidia GPU at this price range and competes with GPUs $200-$300 more expensive. I haven't tried overclocking it, as I'm still a newbie and the temps can run a tad bit hot, but at 100% usage I've never had it break 80 degrees Celsius, to my knowledge (after tuning fan speeds, mind you). One can easily get used to the noise level after a little while, as long as you're wearing headphones while gaming. Overall, this is not the best GPU in the performance range it's operating in, but the value of this thing is seriously something to consider if you're on a slightly tighter budget of around $1,100-$1,400.

tldr: very good value but not the best in terms of performance, but handles itself very nicely

May 2023 revisit: Still a very servicable GPU for 1440p on older titles, but it's beginning to show it's age. New games still run serviceably but don't expect anything fantastic on AAA games past this point in time. This will definetely still be a beast at 1080p for quite a few years, if more than that, and can easily punch above it's weight with newer cards and if you can get it <$200 used, the 5700xt will punch above it's belt at 1080p against the 6600 or 6700 series RX cards or even 3060 and 3070. Considering the used market right now for this card, definitely check out what's available (not necessarily on Amazon, wink wink nudge nudge)

I upgraded from a 1660 super and man I didn't think it would make such a difference. I have this paired with a ryzen 5 1600 af oc to 3.5 ghz (soon to be 3600) 16gb ddr4 3200. I tested it in 2 games league of legends and cod warzone. I know these are on different ends of the spectrum but yeah that is what I play lol. Anyways with the 1660 super with this set up I was getting anywhere from 130-200 fps on league at 4k maxed out settings at 100% utilization. Cod warzone at 1080p high settings getting around 80-105. With this card league is around the same fps BUT it's only clocking at around 900 mhz with around 60-65% utilization. Warzone at 1440p high settings I'm getting around 105-125 fps. I'm blown away. The only downside is temperature. AMD has the stock fan speed at 46%. That is not enough for demanding titles in my opinion. It kept the gpu temp around 80 to 85 but junction temp I saw as high as 107. I know AMD says 110 is fine but not for me. So I put fan speed to max out to 75-80% which does make it loud but temps for gpu at that point are around 72 and junction around 91. I will take that downside for what you get for the price. I cannot speak to longevity yet but so far I would highly recommend.
Edit: I thought I would add as well I attempted to overclock through the amd software as well and set the memory clock, power limit, and base clock to maximum thinking "oh AMD wouldn't put settings in it's own software that the card couldn't handle." I was wrong. It caused the card to crash which could potentially be the issue for some if not a lot of the crashing people are experiencing.

Beast of a card

I've been looking to upgrade my Vega 56 for a while now. Given the psychological barriers, I could not bring myself around to spending more than $500+ on a GPU; naturally, this has narrowed the choices a bit. Was debating between 5700XT and 2070S - they both perform the same, have enough VRAM, and cost relatively reasonable money. However, 2070S is $120-150 more depending on a vendor. If they perform the same, why pay more? I went with 5700XT and it has been a wonderful experience.

Do I regret going with AMD instead of Nvidia? Not really. I've had a great experience owning GTX 1070 in the past and it was - still is, really - a mighty GPU. So, why not 2070S? Simply because I did not feel the need to pay more for RT cores when there are 3 or 4 games out there that support ray tracing. The technology itself looks very promising and will surely become pronounced as the years pass, but right now it's more of a marketing gimmick, IMHO.

This Gigabyte card in particular stays quiet under load and performs as expected; this is my third Giga GPU in the last 3 years, never had an issue. I can safely recommend this 5700XT, if you're on the market for a good performer for a decent price. If some of your older titles are a bit finicky, try disabling HDCP and HDMI Link Assurance in Radeon settings. Some other titles, like Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, do perform better with vsync enabled, as without it the card easily pushes 500+ fps and hinders the gameplay. Couldn't really comment on the supersampling and sharpening algorithms, as I've disabled them.

I bought this for VR, which is where this card has the most problems.
It's very performant, but the newest drivers are buggy with the Windows Mixed Reality hub. Basically, some stuff is rendered twice on one eye, and not at all on the right eye. If you go back a few versions, you're alright.
The same issue also occurs in Onward, and is fixed doing the same thing.
While I don't own Pavlov VR, I have heard that game doesn't even run on a 5700 XT.
It's just the RX 5xxx lineup that has these problems, from what I know.

I don't regret my purchase, as the fix is simple, and I really wanted to go AMD this time- I don't like Nvidia, and AMD generally works better in Linux.

TL;DR: If you plan on running this for 4K or 144Hz or something like that, go ahead, it's a great card. If you plan on running this for VR, then you'll have to use a slightly old driver.

note: I have not tested overclocking, and for my Odyssey+, I literally don't need it. Onward is the only game that seemed to have gone below 90fps.

edit: Driver issues are fixed, I haven't had any issues in months.

I've never had more issues with a graphics card in my life. Managed to install the updated drivers after a ton of messing around-after which it became usable. However still has many minor issues like random flickering, not keeping up with 144hertz refresh rate, graphical bugs, inaccurate colors.

I changed from a 5600 which was also having issues. I am never buying an AMD graphics card again- its only worth is to reduce demand for nvidia cards.

Update:New drivers a few years back make this GPU very smooth. No issue whatsoever now, so am updating my review.

This card installed flawlessly on my gigabyte ultra mb, I have not tinkered with settings as yet, The two games I have installed worked no problem, The card ran cool, so far nor over 65C the fans are quiet. Looks like a winner. As far as looks etc. it is in your case but not bad none the less. The back plate is solid and in my case straight. There is no plastic on the back of the card just the circuit board and the back plate, there is am eight and six pin power connector on the top of the card as it sits installed on your mb so I don't believe that will cause power supply issues. This is a good card may not do 12K but what the heck it still brings it for the most of us..... I like it
