I expected more from Gigabyte. I like the board because it's affordable and has a header for front USB ports but my inital experience has been rocky and a little costly in labor.
UPDATE: The replacement board works fine. My technician reports, however, that wireless keyboard/mouse antennas do something strange when first inserted (some kind of blue screen message) but work fine after that.
Dropped in a G3258, swapping in a 4TB HDD and my kodi box is happy. This MB + that CPU for about $120 total is enough for a home NFS/NAS + plex media server and apt-cacherng for other Ubuntu systems here to be placed in a back room. Then either use a roku or raspberry pi2 with OSMC loaded as the "front-end" for watching video and listening to music.
Unlike pre-USB3 MBs, the USB3 throughput is great and doesn't appear to impact any other processes on a running OS. I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with fairly stock settings for Kodi + Plex Media Server - everything works perfectly - digital 5.1 audio, on-board Intel video, GigE NIC, HDMI and VGA outputs (don't have any displayport devices). I'm booting in BIOS mode, not UEFI. Sorta wish it didn't come with UEFI and the fancy BIOS made setup a little more hassle since I didn't connect a keyboard or mouse (the OS was preconfigured on the HDD). It refused to boot the only HDD connected automatically. Not convinced there isn't a network bypass inserted for government access from the outside, bypassing any software measures. I haven't any proof - need to check the router logs.
