About the Author
Author Victoria Granacki is a newcomer to the Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company fold but an enthusiastic one. She has lent her artistic talents to set design and construction for the past five productions. Her professional career has been in the field of historic preservation. As a principal in Granacki Historic Consultants, she has authored many architectural and community histories for Chicago and its suburbs. Her work has also involved preparing nominations for listing a wide array of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to the National Register of Historic Places -- and even a local golf course. She is the author of Chicago’s Polish Downtown, published by Arcadia Press’ Images of America series in 2004 and reprinted several times since. Her latest project, entitled “Paderewski – the Chicago Connection,” explores the high regard between this famed Polish pianist and statesman and the citizens of Chicago. Her research may yet discover whether Arthur Sullivan and Ignacy Paderewski ever crossed the same concert stage.
