Giles Blunt grew up in North Bay, Ontario. After spending over twenty years in New York City, he now lives in Toronto with his wife and two disgruntled cats. He is the author of six crime novels set in the fictional city of Algonquin Bay featuring John Cardinal and Lise Delorme. The books are being adapted for television, and Cardinal, the TV series, will debut on CTV on January 25, 2017. Blunt's other novels include Cold Eye (psychological suspense), No Such Creature (a picaresque "road novel" and coming of age story), Breaking Lorca (political thriller set in El Salvador and New York), and the Hesitation Cut (a dark tale of romantic obsession). He has also published a collection of poems called Vanishing Act. When not at work at his desk in the Toronto Writers' Centre--or shovelling snow--he plays guitar and keyboard and even croaks a tune or two with an intermittent group called Quango. By popular demand, they have never appeared in public.
