These sell for about 3 bucks each in the home centers, and a bit more on Amazon, so getting a dozen at about 15 bucks is a deal to me. Time will only tell how long they last but I do have others that have been in use for a few years and they are holding up OK. I do a lot of watering for gardens here in the desert and the summers are brutally hot and very unforgiving to plastic. However, I've tried the all metal ones and they get so hot when exposed to the sun they actually damage the hose and can crack when the cold water hits. Plastic seems to actually hold up a better and since they can be had by the dozen for a decent price I'm not too concerned if one does fail. I make up a lot of short hoses to use on impact sprayers and to connect my drip-lines to a water source and these are great for that purpose. Last years I purchased some pretty expensive 100' 3/4" Gilmour hoses that had the pressed metal fittings and after a few months of use... and lots of exposure to the sun... the ends that coupled the hoses together bonded so tight they could not be undone without permanent damage. I was going through a lot of hoses because the connectors would fail or the hose would rupture. These connectors are now how I repair a hose because they cost less than the splice fittings and though I do end up with a lot of shorter hoses I can still join them together for whatever length I need. I also find that these do hold up pretty good to pressure though I try not to leave a hose under pressure in the hot sun. Anyway, they're 5-stars in my book and at about a buck and change each when purchased by the dozen it's a no-brainer.

Not the best quality, but not the most expensive, either. I wouldn't use them for high pressure (or even normal pressure) garden hose applications, but for things like watering, they're fine. Use a little vegetable oil or silicone on the inside of the hose when you're putting it together and you'll find it infinitely easier to do.

A prime example of "you get what you pay for," these hose end clamps do the job, but a little leakage around the fittings is common, no matter how hard you screw them down. Perhaps a wrap of electrical tape under the clamp might improve things, but I just wanted to make up custom-length soaker hoses for the garden (using bulk soaker hose), and the leakage was not an issue for that purpose. For making or repairing a regular multi-purpose hose, I would recommend metal clamps instead.

I ordered these because the description says they are nylon. However, when it came, the package does not say it is nylon (like they used to) and it doesn't look or feel like nylon. The old Gilmour nylon couplings were super strong and lasted longer than the hose. It is disappointing that Gilmour seems to have changed the product. It is frustrating that the description on Amazon appears to be wrong.

Can't get these little buggers any cheaper than this. Of course these plastic hose ends don't hold up all that well, but considering that I have to replace dozens of these each year 'cause the knuckleheads seem to enjoy running them over with trucks, there's no sense investing in nice brass ones, is there? If you've got a hose that you take care of, get some more expensive brass ends. If you know that a goofus is likely to mangle your hose again in a week, use these. They work well enough.

To large to put into 5/8 soaker hose. Have to heat hose in hot water to make it work. But the price is right.

I bought 3500 feet of .700 soaker hose and didn't want to use the plastic connecting lines to go from row to row. I had several old (damaged on one end) 5/8 " rubber hoses . which I cut into 5 foot sections, and put these female connectors on both ends to connect to the "t" "L" and "x" connectors feeding the soaker hoses. This is all on the down flow side of the regulators which reduce the water pressure to 25 PSI. For fixing hoses under higher water pressures for general use around the house or farm, I would use the metal connectors.
