Editorial Reviews

The documentary ‘Gimme Danger’ on Detroit’s legendary rockers The Stooges, directed by noted filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, premiered to rave reviews at the Cannes Film Festival in May of this year.  The CD soundtrack is 14 tracks - 2 from Iggy’s pre-Stooges combos The Iguanas, & the Prime Movers, a selection of songs from The Stooges 2 WMG albums, including some outtake tracks, plus 3 tracks from the Iggy & The Stooges ‘Raw Power’ release thru Sony (again, including outtakes), plus a classic from their big brothers in the MC5.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where is Search and Destroy?
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 1, 2017
My first question is why was not the ultimate Stooges song “Search and Destroy” original Bowie mix not included? Despite hearing it thousands of times it still needs to be included with a capital NEEDS.
The album starts off well with the Bowie mix of “Gimme Danger” then follows a good selection from the first two albums. There follows “I Got a Right” and “I’m Sick of You” both wrongly described as “early Raw Power sessions”. “Sick of you” is the more interesting of the two.
It is cute to give the MC5 some exposure and “Ramblin’ Rose” is a good one.
The inclusion of the pre Stooges Iggy recordings with the Iguanas and Prime Movers is cool. The Iguanas song is the more fun a real Sonics shouter but I also look forward to the eminent Prime Movers release.
“Lost In The Future” is the exciting one for me, the precursor of the Iggy Idiot album and great it is too.
“Asthma Attack” is the Stooges doing their avant garde jazz bit, interesting for one listen but meaningless.
But where is “Search and Destroy”?
