Product Description

Dressmaker Shears offer a longer cut ideal for cutting patterns, trimming seams or cutting long swaths of fabric. These versatile shears feature long, precision-ground, knife-edge blades that cut multiple layers of fabric easily, all the way to the tip. A double-plated chrome-over-nickel blade finish is both striking and durable, and the bent-handle design helps hold fabric flat on a tabletop or counter for smooth, comfortable, mistake-free cutting. Dressmaker Shears also include a nylon sheath to protect the blades when not in use.

There's no question why these have a stellar reputation! Extremely high quality materials and feel. Super smooth cutting action. Cuts through 8 layers of folded material surprisingly easily, especially compared to other cheaper versions and knock-offs. No manufacturing or cosmetic defects. Great balance and hand feel. Definitely of heirloom quality! Might need a sharpening every decade or so, but these seem like "forever" shears! (And yes, they ARE better than the Guggenhein competition! Worth the extra few bucks if you're undecided.) ***HIGHLY RECOMMENDED***

They cut fabric cleanly! The blade is uniformly sharp all across and the end makes good, straight snips.

Very nice design. Not uncomfortable to hold despite the weight of it. The very tip at the end (not the cutting surface) is blunt enough that it won't scratch or cut you if you bump it by accident, and the slight angle means it will bump your fingers to let you know it's there before you end up with skin in the cutting zone. I'm a little clumsy, but I feel like I can be safe with these very sharp scissors as long as I'm careful and respectful of them.

I appreciate the sheath it comes with for storage. Protects the scissors from damage and protects me from accidental injury!

First, I bought these Gingher dressmaker shears because of Gingher's reputation for producing great products. Second, these shears are easy for my hands to hold and use reducing hand fatigue while cutting out a pattern. Third, these shears glided through heavyweight outdoor duck upholstery fabric without having to work the shears. The result was super clear cut lines making it easier to pin then sew.

My old and very cheap dressmaking scissors finally stopped cutting cleanly. I tried many pairs of new scissors - all of which promised me that they would cut several layers of fabric cleanly. That never happened. Finally I tried the 8 inch knife sharpened Gingher dressmaking shears. These scissors are fantastic! If you are easily distracted by other brands of scissor - ergonomic handles, coloured blades, gold screws etc don’t go there - these work very very well. I have arthritis and these scissors are comfy to hold. They cut cleanly from joint to tips of the blades. They smoothly chop through several layers and handle chiffon to denim. No snags, no getting the tip of the blade caught up in the fabric. What’s more, they can be sharpened! Wish I’d tried these earlier.
