One of the things I learned from years of loving kitchen gadgets is that the right tool, especially if it was high quality, can make all the difference. It can make the mundane tasks fun. Sewing has become much easier since I invested in good cutting implements. Of the seven Gingher products I currently own, these are my absolute favorite.

I debated the price for a while, but I eventually gave in. I hate I waited so long! These are nice and heavy. They are well balanced and easy to use. I've trimmed thread and denim with these. They worked great on both! They are worth the investment.

As an industrial sewer, I commonly have to deal with canvas, neoprene, Velcro, and webbing, along with all those pesky threads. This product stands up to the name of "knife edge" and is amazing for all my snipping needs. Fresh from the package, I have no regrets on the purchase of this product. It is strong enough to stand up to the job I need it to do and nimble enough to get even the shortest thread from and awkward angle. Love it and well worth the price!

These things are super sharp to the tip. Great for thread and detail fabric cutting. They take some getting used to. The scissors were bought for my daughter, but she says they are too big for her 11yo hands. My wife was happy to "inherit" them. The spring action works well, but leaves them in the open position when not in use. They do not come with, but would benefit from a sheath or clip to hold them closed when not in use.
Update: The wife moved out, but I kept the scissors

I purchased a pair of these 20 years ago and they're still going strong. However, I always find myself reaching for them behind me while sitting at my serger. So I decided to purchase a new pair to leave at my serger.

I'm sorry to say, they aren't the same. Upon removing them from their packaging, I immediately noticed they're slightly lighter. Evidently, the metal used is of inferior quality as not only are the new ones 5 grams lighter, they're also about a 1/4" LONGER.

Maybe it's the difference between my older, "made in Italy" pair and the new "made in China" ones. Or maybe it's because Gingher was purchased by the inferior and cheaply made Fiskars. Either way, I'm disappointed to see Gingher taking this direction.

Sturdy, heavy, razor sharp, and with a comfortably strong spring. I use these little nippers every day--they're much more convenient than using small scissors. They'll snip fabric too, though the blades are very short and the leverage is not good for making long cuts. I can't imagine ever needing another pair, but if I did, these would be the only nippers I'd ever buy.

Extremely sharp and takes some practice. Once you get the hang of it, I think these are the best. Your ring finger goes into the holder; the rest of your hand grips the blades to squeeze and cut the thread or yarn. Have seen tailors use these for years and didn't realize they are holding them until they cut. For those of you who travel, I would not recommend taking these onto a plane in your carry on or craft basket. They are large (4.5") and could be confiscated. This company make a much smaller thread snipper with a cap that I use and have never had an issue with TSA. Also, these don't have a case. Note: if you have arthritis in your hands or wrist, but aware these are not lightweight. Again, this company makes a smaller light weight nipper that could be a better choice.

These nippers are very nicely made and finished. They feel good in the hand and they are comfortable to hold. They are well sharpened and they snip threads and stray bits of fabric smoothly and neatly. Not the cheapest nippers on the market, but I see no reason they won't last forever. Well worth their price.

Some things you can get the same quality from a dollar item as a 50 dollar item; not so with these nippers.

I used a cheap set from Ikea for awhile, and they were great scissors but not great quality. They started not cutting even the threads, and the blades bent apart from each other. I wanted something that would last more than a few weeks, so I went with the ghinger nippers, even though they were expensive. I have another set of Gingher scissors from the 70's and they are still going strong.

When these came, I was really pleased. They are heavy (but not too heavy)....the weight that tells me I won't have bent edges! Of course, they are put metal so that helps with the longevity as well. They cut beautifully and are definitely my favorite pair of nippers I've ever seen. I take them with me everywhere and get a bit frantic when they aren't there! It did take me a second to figure out how to hold them and it was awkward the first time....but now they feel like an extension of my hand.

The only thing I don't like is there is nothing to lock them closed. I keep them in a plastic bag (the bag it came with) so that I don't accidentally cut my fingers. If this had something to hold the blades together when not in use, I would give it a 5 star. Due to this, it's really like a 4.9999 star, but I just couldn't go with a full five. If they start making them with a close option, I'll be buying several more! (and even if they don't, I'll still buy again)
