I'm a music lover. I have limited exposure to Flamenco (Montoya, Segovia) and the syle of Gypsy music from the region of Central Europe so my review is not about Flamenco or Gypsy music. I first heard a song (Bamboleo) from this CD in a restaurant in West Africa in 1992. I went straight to the bar, got the groups name, then straight to the record store when I got back to the U.S.
In 1994 I saw them in concert and they were just unbelievable. They only played one encore but the audience was so wound up we would have stayed for another complete concert. Five minutes after leaving the concert I realized that I didn't have anything left - I was drained. Another encore would have added nothing to the evening and I was actually glad they stopped when they did. It was one of the most memorable concerts I've ever attended. All that energy and most of the songs are on this CD. If Bamboleo or Djobi, Djoba don't get you moving someone better call 911. In contrast, Moorea brings out the 'quiet' passion. The vocals are raw. By raw I mean not highly polished or 'pretty' but very sincere, honest and passionate, whether it's the high energy or quiet type. You don't need to speak Spanish to get the message.
This is a great gift. This is the first time I've purchased it online and am happy to share my review with others. They are a joy. If music lovers of every ilk and hue can't get turned on by the Gypsy Kings that number again is 911.

"Gipsy Kings" was the first Gipsy Kings CD I ever had, and it is still one of my favorite ones. This CD is a good place to start if you are just getting into listening to this fantastic group. My favorite track on this CD has to be "A Mi Manera", better known as "My Way". I think that Frank Sinatra did it better than anybody else, but this version is excellent as well. Other great tracks include "Bamboleo", "Bem, Bem, Maria" and...well...the rest of them. This is an excellent CD, and it really gives you an idea about how good the Gipsy Kings are.

Gipsy Kings first release was certainly a success. This Album is simply brilliant and probably the most classical of all their albums. Standout tracks are: Bamboleo, Bem Bem Maria, Un Amour, A Mi Manera, and the super hit Djobbi Djobba. The Album also contains four instrumental works which are all very good. My personal favourite is Moorea. Very Recommended.

This album will make anyone who has ever seen Spain (in a postcard, photo album, or through their own eyes) be mentally reteleported- and if you had no idea that Spain is one of the most musical countries in Europe, you will now. To say that this is a great example of how the Spanish guitar should be played and how Spanish music should sound is an understatement! The guitar sounds like a person, an identity of its own and the male voices blend in harmonies that no other nation (except Spain) could concur. I was left in a state of awe the first time I heard it, and now (after MANY instances of replay) I get chills every time I hear "Un Amor", "Bamboleo", "Djobi Djoba", and "Faena". Even for a non-Spanish speaker this is a great album to own; anyone can easily identify with the rhythm and feel of each song. It is truly a musical masterpiece and one of the Gipsy King's best albums.

In you enjoy Flamenco music at all you will adore the Gipsy Kings. Nicholas and Andre Reyes have astouding and powerful vocal ranges and the guitar is fast, furious and passionate all and all creating music to dance to to feel empowered to, in love to, or mournful to. My old Spanish teacher played them at the beginning of class; I still remember how she trembled and fought to keep from bursting into dance.

These guys can be tug-at-the-heart romantic/melodic. Well, they're Latinos doing what Latinos do so well with music.

Their first song on the CD, "Bamboleo" blew me from one side of the living room to the other!! My feet where tapping so much I thought they'd fall off!! "Tu Quieres Volver", "Un amor", "Inspiration" and more bueno, bueno, lindo. "A Mi Manera" (My Way") I'm sorry Frankie, I truly love this version.

Whether you like Latino music a little or a lot, you can't fail with this CD. It excites and moves me, at the same time.

This GK album is the bomb, and I think it might be the first one released in the US. It is the first one I heard anyway. Maybe the first impression is the best, and this copy is to replace one I've been missing for some years, but I really believe the character of this recording surpasses that of later albums. For a first pick this should be the one.

This was the first breakthrough CD for the Gipsy Kings. Their fine music struck a chord with general music and international music collectors, and helped propel them into the mainstream and into star status! I would highly recommend this CD. The music is lively and the lyrics are enjoyable!
