Ms. Williby is addressing a very delicate subject, human trafficking with such finesse. I fell in love with Salena and her plight. Kaden comes riding in and saves the day, but it has consequences for Salena. There is something between Kaden and Salena, but is it just friendship or more?
Get out your tissues because I cried right along with Salena. I was hooked from the first chapter. I can't wait for the continuation of Salena and Kaden's story.
Note: I did receive an advanced copy of the book from the author, but it did not influence my review in anyway. This is truly a wonderful book you shouldn't miss out on!
I have read other books by Jalpa and love all of her books.
Salena is visiting her father in Pakistan and is suddenly kidnapped. The kidnappers don't know who her father is. If they did know things for her could have gotten a whole lot worse.
An American soldier, Kaden Reid is contracted to go in and bring Salena out to safety.
By the time Kaden has found Salena, she has been in captivity for three weeks. Three weeks of torture. Kaden doesn't know what has or hasn't happened to her while she's been held.
Salena doesn't make leaving the empcampment easy. She knows Kaden is there to help her. However, she doesn't know him and doesn't know if she should or shouldn't trust him. Salena tries to run away more than once.
After many years of not seeing each other, Salena & Kaden are together at a humanitarian dinner one night in Chicago. Salena recognizes Kaden by his eyes. Kaden also recognizes Salena by her gray eyes. Salena tries to run away and hide from Kaden in the hotel. However, he finds her of course.
Kaden doesn't give up easily on anything or anyone. Kaden and Salena have a mini reunion. They actually get to know one another again, what each like and don't like. Salena is falling for Kaden. She never opens her shell up but, for him she will.
Kaden has told her that he does leave on missions for months and months, he doesn't want to get involved with her, but, he does.
Is this something worth fighting for? Love, friendship? Will Kaden or anyone ever understand what Salena went through?
