**SPOILERS**
I read all four books in the series and I was really tempted to hurl my Kindle into the wall when I got to the ending of this book. Where does everything tie up? Does she live happily with Alan? Does she ever tell Alan he has a daughter? Does she have more children? Why did Neil die, disease, drug overdose, car wreck WHAT? Why did Jack keep his affair a secret all those years? Does Crissie continue with her singing careers? I absolutely HATE wasting my time on books that end with unanswered questions. Sorry I do NOT recommend this series.

Here I go again trying to write a review for one of Susan's books. By now everyone knows I'm totally in love with her books. All I can say about this book is WOW. It's difficult to write the perfect words to describe how this book made me feel besides "emotionally messy" in a fabulous way. I hung on to every word in this book, every emotion as if I were living it. Susan's books do that to me, they transport me to a different world. It's like she's inside my head sometimes. It's so raw and real and yet so perfect in Chrissie world. I loved how the story progressed, developing throughout the years until Chrissie finds her happiness. Seeing her figure out her life, work with music, made me smile. Yes, I totally smiled while reading this book. I also cringed in some parts, felt heartbroken and was excited for these characters. It was an odd combination and I had to question myself at times.

To finally see Chrissie assess her life and what she truly wants without letting her mind get in the way was wonderful. I felt for Neil, but Alan is Alan. No one compares, especially when it comes to Chrissie. To see the tug of emotions, the friendships, the love bloom is beautiful. This book has a few twists; some I knew already, others were new to me.
Of course, I loved how Affair Without End Series collides with this book and SO happy to read a bit of that in this installment. The best word for me to describe this book, and series, is perfection. It's flawless in it's own way. It's real and beautiful. It's what true romance is about, chaotic, messy and so real it's raw. So honest that you forget you're reading about fictional characters and take a moment to reflect on your own life.
I cannot wait to read The Sand and Fog series to learn more about Kaley and her life.

Really enjoyed this series. Couldn't wait to read. I just wish the ending was just more. Loved the journey Susan Ward took. Want to thank her for a really good series. It just seemed to Me that it Chrissie a really long time to finally get it and grow up. Even saying that I would still read this series again. Thanks, Jamie. Nibarger Ellis

Oh dear... I sit here, after reading all night and barely making into work today, and I am so overwhelm with all the emotions book #4 arised in me: I was happy for Chrissie as she enjoyed her pregnancy and marriage to Neil. Annoyed when Neil started acting so weird. Cautious when Alan suddenly appeared out of the blue. Shocked to my core when the truth about Neil came out. Angst when Chrissie's life spiral out of control again. And not surprised, and really wishing deep deep inside me since the beginning that Kaley was his daughter....
And now, I feel sort of empty and lost...There was a lot that was left unexplained in this story, so many loose ends to tie up... I NEED ANSWERS ! I WANT MY ANSWERS! I AM HAVING A HISSY FIT HERE!...
I need to know more about Jack and Linda, I need to know what Jesse's the journalist role was, I want to hate Renee even more for being such a lousy and selfish friend. I want Kaley to know who her real father is. Nonetheless, I still care for Neil and need to know he is ok....
It's funny, I started not liking Alan Manzone and Chrissie to much at the beginning, in book #1 and know I am craving to learn more about them...just like in real life, you should never judge a book series by it's first installment..always read the full story....

Wowsa.  I started this last night and fell asleep at 2am with 15% to go.  Woke up at 6am and had to finish!!!  Susan was right when she commented about wanting to throw my Kindle at some point.  But how could I expect anything less from this epic journey of love, pain, regrets and self discovery?

The Girl in the Comfortable Quiet ends the saga of Chrissie, Neil and Alan in a most arresting fashion.  If I thought for once things could be easy for Chrissie, I was sorely mistaken hence wanting to throw my Kindle.  Though Neil and Alan do have a huge presence in this book, Chrissie is the voice of the series and what a heart wrenching journey this has been.  Huge discoveries happen in this book.  HUGE.  Seriously heart wrenching.  I can't even formulate a non spoilery sentence regarding what she goes through.  Just know through all her self doubts and self preservation, decisions made and certain paths traveled, this story had to unfold the way it did.  It leaves no room for second guessing the outcome and ends it sweetly. And I loved every minute of it.

Wow, just wow. What a roller-coaster of emotions this book turned out to be, way better than I expected.
It took her 3 books but Chrissie finally made the decision to take control of her life and her emotions like the adult she is. It was heartbreaking what happened with her and Neil. I kind of figured out about Neil when Chrissie saw him talking to Andy in London, but the build-up to THAT scene was so full of angst, I was hyperventilating.
There was a lot that was left unexplained in this story so I got a bit frustrated with that. Jack never explained about Linda, Rene was not mentioned after the "concert from hell", I didn't really get Jesse Harris's role... He was a neighbor who had a crush on her and wrote a book about her, and that was it? What was the point? Did she ever tell Alan Kayle is his daughter? Did she ever tell Neil?!
The epilogue mentions something about her burying Neil 10 years ago after a mention of Kurt Cobain's suicide... I got a bit confused, did he die or was she referring to the end of their marriage?!
I feel for Neil, and I think he was a nice guy. I really hope he got his happy ending too.
