If you haven't read this series from the beginning, go get it...like, right now! This story has stayed with me and left me wanting more from the very start. This 3rd installment has some touchy subject matter, which left me emotional and heartbroken thru parts of the story. To me, when you feel real emotion for the characters, that is the sign of a very well-written book. I hurt for Chrissie in the beginning of The Girl of Diamonds and Rust. My heart literally ached for the decisions she had to make...and later on I wanted to change the words on the page because I was so frustrated with her! But, in the end, I was left hopeful {again!} that this is all a part of her journey that will lead her to her true self and her true love.

This is a great one, people. ..seriously, go buy it now!! You're welcome. ;)

This book... this series.. I said it when I read The Girl on the Half Shell. I don't think I can come up with the right words to do this book justice. These characters have become a part of my life. You know when you read a book, or series, and it just sticks. This is that series for me. The beginning, reading Chrissie's thoughts and what she was enduring tugged at my heart. To live through that, wanting to or not, it got to me. I need to say , leave it to Susan Ward to make me like a character, even when deep down I'm rooting for another. Neil totally mans up in this book and it was nice to read more about him and Chrissie together. {I promise I'm not betraying you, Alan} I like him. I really liked how this story went and it surprised me that I did. I'm a huge Alan and Chrissie fan, no surprise there, I've said it before. But this was interesting to get a view at a different Chrissie with Neil. But of course, being familiar with Susan's writing, I know there's more where that came from and I cannot wait to read the 4th book! Lovely surprise when I realized there would be one and things will continue to tie together.

Ward's writing continues to flow and pull me in. I know that no matter what I read from her, I'll be transported into that world. She has this way of capturing me with her words and holding me hostage. I smiled, laughed, was sad. All emotions combined. My heart hurt for Alan, and Chrissie and Neil towards the end of the book. I devoured this book in a day and I wish there was more to keep devouring. I NEED more ASAP, Susan! Thank you for such an amazing series!

I have been hooked on Chrissie's story ever since the first chapter of The Girl on the Half Shell. Chrissie could be any one of us; we've all been her. The 3rd book of the Half Shell series finds Chrissie trying to graduate from college while going through a heart wrenching and life altering event. Neil is by her side the whole time and decides to go on your with him. While on tour she discovers a little more about herself and about her relationship with Neil, all the while trying to get over Allan. While I'm secretly rooting for her and Allan (he was her first after all) I did find myself cheering for her as she tried very hard to move on and start a life with Neil. Chrissie finally has her happy ending! Or does she? I can't wait for the final book!

I read the third installment of the Half Shell series in one sitting. Consumed doesn't even begin to cover what this series does to me. I am all in. This book continues with the plot only getting stronger, filled with unbridled emotion and a fiery passion. To me it is exquisite torture.

In the prologue for The Girl of Diamonds & Rust, we get a recap of the tumultuous ending of The Girl of Tokens & Tears. Chrissie's character is dealing with a new development that forced her to make a difficult decision. I feel like Chrissie is more honest with herself than she's ever been.

>>>Somehow, I’ve become my worst me with him.

Neil is back. I appreciate his unwavering loyalty and friendship, especially at a time when Chrissie needed it. But I think it's unhealthy. I just don't have a good feeling about this.

>>>“You don’t have a clue what you do to me, do you, Chrissie? How much I love you? What you are to me?”

>>>“He will never need you the way I need you. He will never want you as I want you. He will never love you the way I love you. I don’t care if you are in love with Alan. I’m in love with you...”

Alan might be absent in physical presence throughout most of the book, but he is never far away.

>>>“It’s not like Manny to take an interest in the rearview mirror.”

I highlighted so much in this book. Susan has laid down the foundation for something serious to happen in the finale of the Half Shell series, The Girl in the Comfortable Quiet. The title alone gives me some peace even if the sneak peak at the back of the book does not. ;)

There's a small scene in this book that ties in with the Affairs Without End series.

I have to admit there are times when I am reading this story, that I am emotionally drain and spent between loving, supporting, cheering and hating the characters all at the same time.
It's fiction, I know, but damn they all feel so real to me...
It's a weird feeling, I've read a lot of books before, but there is something about Chrissie, Neil and Alan that just does it to me and brings me to the edge.
This is one intense hot freaking tormented some times even sick and impossible love triangle, the kind that just won't let you have a "favorite guy" and you find yourself cheering for both of them, when you know that's just not possible.
She has to make a choice... she did, I should be happy with it, since I was team Neil for good part of my reading and I really hated Allan at the first book, but then again, damn Alan just makes my heart beat faster eveytime he comes into scene too....
So I am sooo one-clicking my way to book #4... like a brand new drug I just discover, I need my next fix on Chrissie, Alan and Neil, and I need it fast.....
