My overall take was that it was kind of meh with a none too original set-up for the new character and very average writing. I was somewhat disappointed and frankly a little bored but will read the follow-up to see if it gets better. [Follow-up note: I just started Book 1 and definitely think it helps to have read this "prequel."]
It was farcical. On the positive side, I did read through to the end which is more than can be said for a lot of the books I download nowadays.
Overall, this is a fantastic book that I found to be a great read and also somewhat interesting but I did not like the bashing and political views since authors typically take it too far and it just makes the story dull and a bit annoying.
I received this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review and hope that you found it helpful.
I also lost respect for the author at the SECOND sentence of the book where she said that the Secretary of State was waiting on the tarmac at "Andrew's Air Force Base"... ummm... Andrew doesn't own an AFB-- it's named for Lt. Gen. Andrews. I almost stopped reading on the spot at something any writer or editing staff should be able to catch and/or fact check.
I suppose if this was a prequel written after the other books, just a light novel to explain how Ingrid got where she was, then maybe I wouldn't stop reading the series... but since this was my first "Ingrid Skyberg FBI Thriller," it will be my last.
