Gabriella’s adventure is made memorable by the beautiful, hand-drawn illustrations / watercolors that provide the charming backdrop for Gabriella’s journey. Fernando Cobos has made each of his illustrations come to life with his impeccable attention to details. I found myself spending a lot of time looking at each and every drawing. Each illustration is literally a work of art.
Rick Henry has given us a beautifully written story about love and letting go, a story told so tenderly that children can understand and easily relate to it. It is also a story that adults will also relate to, as loss during one’s lifetime is an inevitable part of life. “The Girl with the Magic Balloon” will help children and adults alike embrace life, accept change, and give hope and meaning to moving on with life with a positive attitude. It is an endearing little book that will bring comfort in addition to leaving both children and adults smiling with its well-told story. This is a book that children and adults will want to read and enjoy again and again!
