Editorial Reviews

Review

by ToadHallLibrarian (WorldCat)  Permalink
"This is a well written, easy to read, girl empowering non fiction story that engages young adult readers. "
"An amazing personal journey that will simultaneously break your heart and mend it." - Contempobook

"This world changing book makes a great holiday gift." -- Life...Successfully

"This is a great book. It gives us a glimpse of the life of an ordinary woman who shares with us her extraordinary experience of having met the legendary genius and futurist, and being entrusted with a treasure trove of ideas and concepts.

It is an easy read in its consistently informal and conversational tone. The touch of sarcasm makes it fun to read. The author did a great job in describing her emotions including her guilt for letting Bucky down, fear for the future of the planet, dismay towards others for their indifference, and rage against the Big Oil for the deliberate obstruction of clean energy.

By sharing her guilt for selfishly prioritizing her life over the grim future of the world, the author is able to express what other people who care about the environment probably feel. Nevertheless, her actions after getting over her self-loathing are, somehow, motivating.

Needless to say, I enjoyed this book immensely. It is startling, inspiring, encouraging, and for others, may even be life-changing. The part I like most is the depiction of the author's various feelings and emotions, as she fought so many battles including the battle against herself and against her family. I can relate with her on so many levels."
