How would YOU respond if our society fell to hostile, alien invaders? Well, for teenage girl Rhyann, her choice is clear – she will put her fears aside, resist, and fight at all costs. Consequently, the action is riveting as we join this unlikely hero on her quest to preserve and protect humanity.
There is a lot to love here. Once again, the cover is fantastic and it made me want to grab this book from the Kindle store. The author knows her genre, and she knows who she is writing for. YA readers have an insatiable appetite for post-apocalyptic landscapes, and they will love the pacing, the action, and the difficult choices that confront our hero as she spearheads the resistance.
Five Stars for Girl VS...Xela Culletto is quickly establishing herself as a tremendous force in the YA sci-fi genre, and I’m eagerly looking forward to her third offering.
This book goes deep into the mind of someone who has to struggle and fight and compete for life. It does get a little dark, but I like how believable it is. A world like that truly would be difficult to live in, and I love how Rhyan finds strength in the people she meets.
Overall, a great book for post-apocalyptic lovers.
This is a fast-paced sci-fi page turner about Rhyan—a teenager facing violent aliens who invaded Earth. It's like the TV series 'Falling Skies' all over!
Aliens invaded Earth, destroying human civilization, but lately, they seem to be interesting in taking humans in custody, doing what? Studying them?
Rhyan, a troubled teenager with a taste for revenge struggles to survive in this post-apocalyptic future, using her knives to off aliens and make friends to a horse—she named Lucky—she found in an abandoned stable while roaming the outskirts of a city looking for food and shelter.
Then she discovers a light on the horizon in the evening—city lights! She knows, aliens destroyed all power plants and don't use city lights. It must be humans... or is this a trap set by the aliens?
If you like fast-paced sci-fi action in an apocalyptic world, then this is truly is an add-on for your bookshelf!
Science fiction is generally a take it or leave it genre for me. I'm very picky about which books I read that include this. I found this novel to be one of those books that I can read that doesn't feel overly done. It concentrates more on the characters lives rather than the world around them which i love.
