After reading the reviews on this book, I purchased it for my neice who is mentally handicapped and just began time with horses. She loved the picture cards and posters in the back of the book. Although the book will need to be read to her, some of the focus on what horses do will be at a higher level than she will grasp. Also, it would have been nice if there had been included a girl of dark skin with a horse, something for her to identify. All in all, a very nice book.

I bought this book, along with a few others, for my 8 year old daughter when she first took an interest in horses. The pictures in this book are awesome! It has just the right amount of words per pretty picture to keep my daughter reading it over and over. The book is completely thrashed from the sheer amount usage and was definitely her favorite out of all the horse books I bought her. I would definitely recommend this book for any little girl with an interest in horses.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my best friend's daughter who is very hard to buy for but loves anything to do with horses. I was so pleased with this book when I received it in the mail. The pages are nice and thick, the illustrations and photographs are beautiful, and the tear-out trading cards are a sure hit with kids. Also, the fact that it is an American Girl book makes it all the more appealing to girls. It's worth mentioning that the book is small in size - about 8in X 6in but I don't think that it deters from the quality of the book. Overall, I'm very happy with this book and reccomend it for any little girl.
