This helmet looks and fits great and is super comfortable, HOWEVER, the vents don't close. Recently was in Northern VT during a fairly cold weekend and my head was FREEZING. I would recommend buying another Giro model that has closeable vents.

I chose the Giro Nine.10 over the Giro Nine because it was $15 less. Only real difference is the vents: They close more easily with a slider switch on the Giro Nine. The Nine.10 requires you to remove the helmet and fold/tuck in the helmet liner flaps to open the vents. While opening some of the vents on my helmet, some of the sticky/velcro pads that hold the flaps in place came unglued. This was an annoyance but I was still able to tuck in the liner satisfactorily, and it stayed in place fine as I skied. To me this was only a minor annoyance. If you don't anticipate needing to frequently adjust the vents to be open/closed, then this will be a fine helmet for you. If you often adjust your vents/airflow, you may want to go with the Giro Nine.

We only hear about the celebrities that have serious accidents because they fall without a helmet. There are thousands a year in the USA alone.

Initially, I thought it would be intrusive and cumbersome, but this style actually allows me to have a wide view as much as without a helmet. It also easily allows for your goggles. The fit is snug and weighs about the same as a bike helmet. Giro has a neat 'felt vent plus system' that detaches from the inside of the helmet. It's an ingenious 'weather strip vent shield' that prevents wind from getting into your helmet, thus freezing your head. But if the weather is warm, you can take the interior skin off and still have great protection.

Sizes should be tried on before you purchase a helmet, but using a size large, I found it very easy to adjust the circumference strap by dialing the knob in the back in one direction until it felt snug. I could do this with the helmet on and the knob is in the back. The entire interior strap with felt vent coverings can be unsnapped. The chin strap and the ear coverings are built in, but they provide for a nearly unnoticeable fit and the ear coverings keep your ears warm. That is a huge plus. The chin strap is very easy to adjust and snap on and is covered with a soft felt that dries out quickly. The ear pads are actually vented but for warmth so your hearing is not affected at all.

I would suggest shopping around for your style, color and fit to be sure and never buy a used helmet. They can be cracked and worthless. This is a top rated helmet so remember that you always get what you pay for and your head is the most important part of your body. Great Skiing to everyone!

I went skiing in vail this past week with this helmet and it was awesome! I fell a few times and this helmet saved me. I skied everything there and it was pretty cold. The helmet kept me warm. There is an adjustable lever in the back that makes it easy to fit over a face ask and what not.

I have used Giro bike helmets for years and know they fit my head well. This is my first ski helmet and I like it. It fits well, it's lightweight, it keeps the head nice and warm. I haven't fallen to test out its' strength, i'll trust them. i also haven't tried using any audio devices with it on yet.

who is starting his growth spurt; it fits comfortably (I had him try his sister's Giro beforehand for comfort and to get the right size). It is nice to be able to find him on the slopes as it stands out a little bit( because he is seldom actually near me when skiing); and he picked the color. We have a few Giro's in the house now and I would get again.

I like everything about this helmet, except the price tag. You get a little more styling than $40 bombshell helmet, but the protection is the essentially same. Also, this helmet is adjustable, both with respect to the air vents and the form fit system. Worth the extra $60? I don't think so.

Wasn't sure exactly what size to purchase, but we went with the Medium and it fits great, just a little big and should last him many years. He's 14 with a rather small size head. I'd suggest purchasing one size larger than you're expecting if buying for a child. For example, I have an XL and it fits great.
