The 2009 Omen is the most technically advanced snow helmet Giro has ever made. Innovation from experience has produced a 14 vent system that gives you complete control for all conditions. Couple this with the In Form fit system and the backcountry has never been so comfortable.

Key Features:

  • The In Form Fit System makes it easy to dial in a custom fit in seconds--even with gloves on. An ergo-friendly dial at the base of the helmet provides up to 6cm of adjustment and enhanced stability while the vertical tuning feature accommodates different goggles and head shapes for a custom fit, free of goggle gap.
  • Dual Thermostat ventilation control allows you to custom tune airflow instantly in the front and rear of the Omen with two low profile control buttons on the outside of the helmet. No other system is faster or easier to adjust, and nothing is more effective at keeping you comfortable.
  • Giro helmets are developed utilizing the proprietary Wind Tunnel ventilation system, which combines active vents with internal exhaust channels that thrust cool, fresh air over and around the riders head-while forcing heat and stale air out. This significant increase in air channeling makes a difference that riders will immediately feel and appreciate.
  • In-mold construction fuses the helmet's outer shell with the impact-absorbing EPS liner. The two materials are fused together, and one is reinforced by the other. This 'exoskeleton' allows us to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable and better ventilated.

About Giro
Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, and the result was the Giro Prolight, a sleek, stylish helmet that offered a superior fit while still meeting the industry's toughest safety standards. In addition, the helmet weighed half as much as traditional helmets, making it extremely comfortable. In the years since, Giro has advanced its helmets, which are extremely popular among progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are now worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world. Giro is based in Scotts Valley, California.

Purchased this for a future snowboard trip so it's not tried in tested yet. The medium fits my 58cm. noggin comfortably & has a ratchet fit system similar that you find in hard hats to dial in the fit. Along with other snowboard & ski helmets that I've tried first at a NYC store for the looks & fit, the black matte finish combined with the dual temperature vent controls are what makes the Omen stands amongst the rest. Other notable features are the warm removable earpads & the padded chin-straps. Wasn't actually planning to buy one soon till I saw I good deal on Amazon that was hard to pass up. Received as expected - "Used - Like New". One corner of the packaging was all taped up. As for the actual helmet itself, I don't see any signs of visible damage or use. It complements & seamlessly fits my Scott Helo OTG goggles on the front part of the helmet & is held in place by a big plastic clip on the back along with a channel groove on the sides. No reach issue with my goggle's original straps as others have complained. Came with a manual, a small Giro red graphic sticker, "My Emergency Info" sticker & a black cloth knapsack with a small pouch that is big enough to hold the helmet & some other small items. This was a nice plus & all were in a still sealed plastic bag. My only minor aesthetic complaints are the air channel groove design which was not exactly what I was looking for in a helmet & plain & shiny Giro label on the front of the helmet.
