The story had potential to be much better though it did hold my attention enough to finish it. There was some basic world building, but not enough to really get a grip on the world (or really the universe) & what was going on. The h & H were decent characters, though I liked Davien better than Kara in the end. I didn't really feel the connection between them, though there was some physical chemistry. There were hints here and there to goings on in the plot, but nothing is ever really explained, same for Davien's background, I really didn't know him any better at the end than I did at the beginning. I felt like the author could have let a few more things slip in this book, to hook the reader, instead of leaving everything a big mystery, this definitely didn't leave me wanting to continue with the series. I felt the story ended abruptly, and left me frustrated to have wasted my time reading this & to not have a solid ending. I realize that this is going into a series, but if this couple or this planet is not in the continuing part of the series (from looking at the continuation, it doesn't look like it), they need to have a better ending for them & the planet happenings than what this book left it at.
Clearly the first story in a series, this done in one quick read stood well on its own, had a lot of interesting world building, and created a sense of curiosity about other characters and events without making this story feel incomplete, but rather part of a larger universe.
Action packed, suspence and adventure.
Easy to read. One of the books you can't put down until the end.
HEA with no cliffhanger, yea. There is a background story with unanswered questions. Where are his brothers? Who tried destroy the ship?
Will look for future books in this series.
I definitely would recommend this wonderful Sci fi book.
These two different people trying to find a better life found it together and they are better off for it. Recommend this book.
Davian is an experiment who is trying to figure out how to get off world and find his creator and brothers. That was until saving Kara derailed his mission with her drama, adventures, and group of friends.

The world is well imagined, the heroine is genuinely kick-ass and the hero has a softer side so all good so far. Why not five stars? I'd have liked a bit more description to really bring it to life for me, I couldn't quite 'see' the characters in my imagination.
