Benjamin Barton has written a very useful book on the state of the legal profession. The book is useful for what it includes - amongst other things, lots of data, clearly presented. It is equally useful for what it does not include - for example, rants and unchained opinions. Working through the data and the scholarship, Barton delivers a fair, clear look at where the practice of law stands today, and where it might go. If you are interested in athecurrent state of the legal profession, both this book and Deborah Rhode's The Trouble With Lawyers are worth your time.
