I only gave it 2 stars because of the horrible editing. It was as if the author did not know how to write proper fiction grammar. The dialogue and its tag lines were the worst. It made it very difficult to read and to keep up with who said what and who responded to what was being said. I liked the story line and the pacing of the book until two thirds of the way in. Then to me it seemed to slow down a bit. The turning of the male protagonist's mind was a little disturbing and not well supported. I did find the head jumping a little disconcerting as well. The point of view should have remained in the female protagonist and male protagonist's point of view and theirs alone. However, the author would jump inside the head of minor characters and that to me is lazy writing. In these instances it would have been a much better read to be in the main characters' heads during the most difficult times. Even after much negative concerns I have over the book I did like the story line. If the author gave as much attention to the editing and grammar as the storyline it would have been a five star book.

This was my first book by this author and I was pleasently surprised. Glendale and A New Day (the second book in the series) are both wonderful books. I could relate to all of the characters and felt a connection to each one of them. If you want to read a very good and inspirational book to read, choose this one. You will not be disappointed.

Warning - this book could cause you to neglect those you love and your responsibilities. Really, this is an excellent book. I could not put it down. I had to force myself to take breaks and tend to the real world. I read all three books in three days. (I took off for Sunday :-)

The only negative thing I have to say, which some might not see as a negative, is that this is why I warn my children of the dangers of dating when you are not yet old enough to marry. A lot of the things in the story could have been avoided if they were older. We tend to take Joe's original position on marriage, until he compromises what he believes.

That aside, you will have to read the other two books in the series to get the complete story. This story will leave you with a cliff hanger. If you don't want to read all three books, don't buy this one. The books are very inexpensive however and you can get all three books for less the price of one of some other series.

I really loved this entire series and highly recommend it to adults and older teens. You will laugh and you will cry. The writing was excellent through out. Some parts of the story line are contrived, but I loved it anyway. It is the way I would have wanted it all to work out.

I'm no stranger to Christian fiction and while all of it is written with (I presume) good intentions about relaying the Word of the Christ, I've always felt like most Christian fiction books have un-relatable characters and unrealistic story lines, especially when it comes to writing about young people. This is not true about Glendale or any of the other stories in this series (as well as the Mothers of Glendale series), as each character has relatable traits and are put through situations that all of us face. Ann writes with raw honesty and her strength is making characters come alive to you. You feel like they are your best friend and when I finished both series, I was sad to see them go. That's talented writing, folks. I would not hesitate to recommend these books to anyone.

To be honest, I renewed my faith during this book. I found myself praying more often and picking up my dusty Bible on a regular basis. Not other book has done that to me. And as a somewhat new Christian, I wanted to read a book that make the Word come alive for me in a simplistic way that applies Scripture to every day life. Glendale accomplishes this better than any other Christian book I've read. I truly believe that this author has a great grasp on the Bible and applies Its teachings appropriately.

Is the editing a bit confusing? Yes. But Ann is a new author and for her first books, I'd say you are getting a great deal (2.99!) on a story full of heart and characters you want to follow throughout the series. Do you get frustrated with some of the characters and their actions? Of course. I was angry with both Jessica and Joe at times, but that's how I know that this book reeled me in and made me care about these two people.

Don't expect award-winning prose and editing, but do expect a raw and honest story that will captivate you. I believe this is only the beginning for this author and I'm excited to see what she has next for us.

A very sweet inspirational book. It is a quick read with a family oriented story line with real life problems that the characters deal with from a Christian perspective. It shows that all of us struggle with life decisions and we all make mistakes but God still loves us and thru grace brings us back to his path for us if we listen.

I ordered this book on my Kindle based on all the 5-star reviews it got and I just don't understand how it was rated so highly. The story line was OK but it was as though this book was written by a 16-year-old! Horrible use of grammar, for example "...just like her and her friends would have done back in DC." Her and her friends?! Ugh! You learn to write "she and her friends" in English 101. There are also several sentences where words are just missing, so you have to pause to try to figure out what was supposed to have been written. I found the entire thing distracting and disappointing. The characters were mildly interesting but unfortunately for me, all of the misspelled words, poor editing and child-like writing took away from any amount of enjoyment I may have gotten from the story.
