I'm fairly handy, good at critical thinking, and cheap, so I decided to take the plunge. But if you're not handy, don't excel at puzzles, or have some dough, I highly recommend you throw down the measley $50-100 to have a professional install this. Think of it like an insurance policy on your house - imagine if this thing leaked while you were at work (or on vacation) and flooded your kitchen and basement. I've been hired to clean up some water damage jobs, and this kind of stuff happens all the time. Anyone that's had this happen to them will tell you that you don't want the headache. If you choose to install it yourself, make sure to follow the instructions to the tee. The instructions are a bit unintuitive, but all the information is there if you're simply patient and methodical.
HOSES HOLD ON AND WON'T LET GO
Once you push a 1/4" hose into one of the fittings, it absolutely will not come loose - it has a perma-locking mechanism. So make sure you've installed the right fitting at the right connector and appropriately tightened it before attaching the tubes.
FITTING WAS WRONG SIZE
One of the fittings that came with the package didn't fit to my sink. They included the 1/2" sized piece but I needed the 3/8" piece. I suspect this is a common issue because the instruction manual mentions to call them if it's the wrong size. This was frustrating for three reasons: 1) I visited all the local stores like the instructions advise but no one had that part in stock 2) So I then needed to order the part on Amazon and still have yet to apply for a refund of this little part 3) I had a deadline to get this thing installed and this little part made me 4 days late. But when it's all said and done I took a deep breath instead of getting angry because if that's the only reason this RO system is dirt cheap, I'm cool with that. I'll let you know if they actually refund me the money. (UPDATE: They followed through on the $14 refund). Photo of original fitting that didn't fit my sink attached.
SCREWDRIVER DOESN'T FIT
I got to the step where you need to drill a hole into your sink's pvc drain pipe, but my screwdriver and 1/4" bit simply would not fit between the sink and the pvc piping. So I first thought I could go buy one of those drills that's made to get into tight places, but then I realized I could just unscrew the pvc, drill the hole, and then reattach the pvc. Photo of this pvc dillemma attached.
Once everything was hooked up, I turned the water on and everything seemed dry. But once the water reached the third filter water began to leak pretty fast. Luckily I had followed my gut to NOT mount the device until it was fully tested. So I grabbed the whole device and gently put it in the sink and then quickly shut the water off. I loosened the filter with the wrench that comes with the package and loosened the 3rd filter. Once it popped off, the issue was obvious - whoever assembled this at the factory didn't take care and one of the washers was all buggered up. So I realigned the washer, tightened the filter, and Tada! Everything seems to be working fine. Photo of me tightening this filter attached.
TECH SUPPORT LEGIT
I called about the replacement part and they were on the ball. He solved my problem and was polite while doing so.
Fire away, baby.

UNRELATED TIP JUST CAUSE
For what it's worth, there's a website called fakespot.com where you can check if sellers have fake reviews. It runs on a pretty sophisticated algorithm that's served me well. It's a not-for-profit website. The service is free, easy, and it's there to help consumers avoid shady businesses. I'm sure someday businesses will learn to circumvent the system if it becomes popular enough, but I've been using it for about a year, and it's been great to me!
It's easy to bypass/remove that and nobody I've ever talked to could tell the difference (I used to do this for a living), and by doing so, you will get the water out of the tank as fast as it can deliver it. As we use it for cooking, aka fill a large pot, that's the route we went.
The second is getting individual repair parts for it. I lightly froze mine by accident within weeks of purchase, popped the bottom off of all three lower filters. I contacted them to purchase new housings and it became an exchange of information. I also wanted spare o-rings. I will not say what they did to take care of me as I don't want anybody to take advantage of that. But take care of me they did.
